Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I know that's not the best indicator, but if you've ever seen a Toyota 3.0 liter on Pennzoil, you'd get my drift. 5000 kilometers seems very low mileage for synthetic. I would likely double it, which would be 6200 miles, and I'd be very comfortable even extending it a bit from there..

Well, since I am still able to walk today after my run up the Innsbruck climb on Zwift, I decided to throw caution to the wind and do Stage 3 tomorrow. I did not go COMPLETELY crazy, however. I opted for the Epic KOM/Radio Tower route, rather than the Alpe du Zwift route. I may have lost a lot of weight, but not enough to make me a climber. It still took me 35 1/2 minutes to do the climb yesterday.

Is it gas or diesel? AWD? I thought if I moved back to the mountains I would like to have a Subaru wagon and a manual trans is fine with me.
All our mountains have been burning, though, and homeowner insurance is super high in the "fire zones" if you can even get it.

Had a Subaru Legacy wagon when I lived there before and it worked.

Otherwise, having them jam the rjones28 saddle onto seatpost, replace cables, friction plates on pedals, hopefully. I have new bar tape awaiting when they're done. Oh yes.
so you are skipping the riding season for maintenance reasons?

pearl izumi elite soft shell gloves is what I use. I’ve worn them in temperatures as low as 25 and my hands were toasty. Can still access my phone with them on.

My wife bought me recently the pearl izumi thermal quest long sleeve jersey. I wear that and a wind breaker from temperatures 40 and below and it’s works fine. If it’s below 30 I’ll wear a vest underneath my wind breaker but on top the the thermal jersey.

I splurged and got a pair of Castelli Estremo gloves. They are pretty good right around freezing but not quite good enough down to the "advertised" 25F. They are generally ideal for riding in the 30's F but are $$$$. Obviously there are a TON of choices for gloves and jackets and what works for one may not work for another.

PS if temps well below freezing (say in the 20's) I do best with glove liners inside mittens. If below 15F throw in a chemical hand warmer...or throw in the towel and ride the trainer

The guy that sets up our group didn't set up the Alpe de zwift. He did some other route. No one complained.... Im fine with it.
