Ah man, now I feel bad. I didn’t think about someone dying. But how hard is it to look up something online these days? Especially since this looked like a beloved bike- they put later Ultegra on it.

I like my brother’s explanation: someone was pissed after the divorce.

I’m watching it too since my brother lives in Portland, but I’ve found items sold “as is” on shopgoodwill sell for more than identical, working items on eBay. It makes no sense to me.

I posted this in Classic & Vintage too, it's amazing the things that get left, just this week for under 2,000.00 a set of working in very good condition Revel Ultimate Studio speakers with shipping included sold at auction. These are a pair of the best speakers made at add another zero price. The Della Santa frame only is a 500++ bike on ebay.
This is why I'm going to make sure all my bikes are spoken for to grandchildren or other children who will ride them before I kick off, of course going to ride them up until then, though as grandsons/granddaughters grow will pass them early to one ready to ride. In this the meaning is saved and the joy shard.
Hope someone here gets it to ride not just to resell, but someone is going to get someone's dream bike and if you go to their website you find the builder will supply background on any of his old builds is you ask.

This happens a lot when the parents retire to someplace warm and than pass away or move back home due to health issues. The adult children come in from far away and, due to work or family obligations, only have a limited amount of time to clear everything out and sell the place. Estate sales are a lot of work, and the return does not always justify the time spent, so they just drop the stuff at GW or other charity.

I have 3 decent frames right now (a Bianchi, a Trek, and a Tange 1 Nishiki) that I'm ready to drop off at GW, just because I hate selling stuff so much. I'd give them away here, but I don't want to deal with shipping. Sometimes GW is the easiest option.

You are very correct in that. Estate sales or auctions are tons of work and you get very little of the value. Auctioneers take a HUGE percentage. I would even call it a shameful percentage, taking advantage of people's loss. Sure they're helping clear out items, but they get 10-30% seller's commission then another 15% or so from the buyers. Even fleabay takes 10% these days.

OK, sorry for the derailment of the forum from my shock! Back to the finds!

Guercotti Pista track bike - $595 (Metro west)

This is a Guerciotti Pista track bike, P55, with wooden track wheels and tubular tires. The hubs are campy, the handle bar and stem in cinelli, rest is gippieme. So it is all Italian, made in Milano.

The goodwill in my neck of the woods do not take frames or partial bikes, they do take wheels. They may take them but they also trash a lot to.

^^^^ I have to remind myself to roll by the dumpsters behind the local Goodwills looking for discarded incompletes. I hear they're potential treasure troves.

On the Della Santa:

And this is from the Della Santa website:

Identification and Restoration

If you recently picked up an old Della Santa and would like to know more about the frameset, odds are Roland still has the build sheet on it. Just refer to the serial number on the bottom bracket when you contact us.

If you have an old DS that’s in need of new paint you can send it directly to:

Rivendell Mixte - Wilbury (Glorius) - Frame & Fork 52 cm New In Box - $2000 (Suffield CT)

Rivendell Mixte - Wilbury - Frame & Fork 52 cm New In Box

I purchased this frame from Rivendell 10 - 12 years ago and never built it. It is a 52 cm mixte and has never had a component mounted on it except for the headset which was installed by Rivendell. I have since purchased another Rivendell mixte (Yves Gomez) and no longer have a need for the original mixte.

Rivendell had one run of these bikes built by Toyo of Japan. They were badged either Glorius or Wilbury -- this is a Wilbury. Future runs were never done because of the expense and subsequent mixte production was moved to Taiwan.

This bike is known for its exquisite lugs. See the pictures.

Frame size is 52cm. Wheel size is 650b.

Located in Suffield CT -- 2 miles south of Six Flags and the Mass line.
