Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wonder if Mojo31 got a fancy uniform and joined the Civil War-era artillery reenactors club?

I sometimes wish I liked other people enough to ride with them. Especially when I'm riding into a headwind.

(I used to ride with a club. I remember one Saturday ride when one of the stronger guys in our group got out in front and stayed there for about 5 miles, pulling us all the way from Cupertino to Menlo Park. I think he might have been training for a time trial.)

Not well enough to travel to TN to ride with you. But don't feel singled out. I'm an equal opportunity misanthrope.

I am quite the introvert, but I do love my club rides. That’s one thing I really miss these days because COVID19.

I used to be good at pulling into the wind, one of the few things I was good at. I tried it today near the end when half the group stopped for coffee. I was slogging along for a while and one of the 2 triathlete girls came up on my left and commented on the headwind. The guy behind me says "I don't feel any wind".

This is the time of year when we have the best weather, except for the rare rain storm. Summer is miserably hot and the fall, especially the last one, has high winds. Days like today are wonderful.

Of course, in that budget range, I'd go for the 718 Cayman. Manual transmission.
