Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, either it was the 88 degree temps, or I overdid it yesterday, or both, but instead of feeling like a god on the bike, I felt more like a dog on the bike. Bleah. Still better than not riding, but I don't think I got a good measure of the capabilities of the bike, in this case the Circuit. Still did slightly better than the last time I rode this route on this bike, but I felt much worse. Not heat acclimated yet.

When I went to my LBS for the shift cable, they had a doppelganger hanging in the work area. I hadn't even realized that they'd picked up Allied; must have been a covid acquisition.

Oh, and shift cable replaced - no new bike

I've never had a Garmin that didn't do weird stuff and I've owned a lot of them.
I can relate. Sooooooo frustrating! Especially when the finger pointing starts. "It's hardware"...."it's software" .....it's "user error". And no one steps up and takes responsibility for the problem they created for you due to a change on thier end. Like when Garmin connect made changes and suddenly Strava would no longer take auto updates. Or when my Kinetic trainer suddenly wouldn't play with Strava or Garmin. I later found out it was due to a decision by Kinetic to go with proprietary software that wouldn't interference with anyone else. After I purchased 2 of thier units for off season training. Bastards....
Apparently my life needs mysteries and challenges.

Golf is bad. I have to admit Curling is worse. Especially when you don't understand what the hell is going on. I refuse to study the rules and/or strategies. I should be able to figure it out by watching. But no. I've managed for 20 years of occasional winter time Sunday viewing to not be any more knowledgeable about it than when I first saw it on the CBC. Still..... there will be a Sunday this winter, I'll wake up from an unscheduled nap with the TV on and it'll be Curling. And I'll sit there for a hour watching the brooms swat the ice. The screams of, "HARD!" Over and over. For zero effect.

I told him to trash the wheels, but he is determined to find out why this is happening.
continuous spoke breakage is a sign of UNDER torqued or inadequate spoke tension due to work hardening. He needs to raise the tension not lower it.

His weight isn't an issue. I'm heavier than that and haven't broken a spoke in years. Go read Sheldon Browns section on wheel building. Low tension will work harden the metal of the spoke because it is continuously going through its yield point. You tension a spoke so it's close enough to yield in tension that it never cycles through it when the load comes off of it. No workhardening...no breakage.

Today, my 1030 connected everything but my Shimano wu111 inline thingie which it worked fine with for over 500 miles. Then, 18 miles into the ride, it decides that it didn't like my Varia TL and no amount of trying to get it to re-pair failed.

I did a soft reset when I got home and the Varia is connected again but I haven't tried the other sensors yet.

Good luck. Sometimes I feel like the I.T. guy but.... did you try turning it off and on again? Lol. I know with my cludge, I would have to delete the app. And then reload the app. Then the Strava, then the ride with GPS. Then allow down loads , the allow auto uploads, authenticate automaticly...blech.
