Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's why I was surprised. Plenty of singlespeed mtb riders around. Friend even raced singlespeed cyclocross.

It is super fun on mellow trails. I have a 6-bolt disc fixie adapter, just 86 that dumb ol' rotor, bolt on the sweet fixie cog, put your rear wheel in backwards and party like it's 1999.

In certain circles I run in, Coke actually means Dr Pepper.

Gotta love the South.

There's a pretty strong contingent of single speed CXers around here.

Indeed. You order a Coke, and the waiter will almost always ask, “What flavor would you like?” Answer is, “Dr. Pepper” or “Sprite” or “regular Coke.”

I was surprised to note today that well over 50% of the bikes in the bike room at 8am were drop bar road or gravel bikes. I feel like the flat bars usually have a slight edge.
