Do you have any close-up photos of the stem/headset setup? is the stem sitting right on top of flat metal top spacer that is normally underneath the carbon conical spacer? Thinking of doing that on my ss evo, but I wasn't sure whether there are structural/safety issues with running it this way. even cannondale cannot give me a clear answer. Thanks in advance.

The 5mm top cap is meant to be used, and the conical one is just a larger version. I have the stem on the 5mm top cap as intended, hell it even has logos on it.

Just got a 2012 Specialized Tarmac SL3 for a great deal. Bike seems to only have a few hundred miles on it. All I need now is to find some good pedals.

Just picked up my first road bike and the first bike I've owned since I was about 16 (25 now). Its been a long time coming, I don't know why I waited so long. Its a 2015 Scott Speedster 20 that a local shop hooked me up with for about $250 under MSRP, thus bringing it closer to my price range. I couldn't be happier, and as soon as I got it home I took it out on the road for a 25 mile ride (I probably would've rode all day if I didn't have to fly to Chicago tonight for work). I love how easy it is to go fast on these things, no hills required. Best thing I've bought for myself outside of my golf clubs (my favorite hobby). I need to figure out shoes and pedals so don't worry, that's the first order of business.
