Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wow...that's an 07? I thought the 07 Nirone had CF stays?

This hydroformed aluminum is going to be big.

visitordesign: Is that your bathroom? No plumbing for the tub? That's old school right there.

ps. 49/21 on hills? That hurts my knees just looking at it.

Hrm, neato, can you post a pic of this setup? I have a similar TT bar setup and was thinking of something similar but cannot get a work-around idea that will apply. Thanks.

I love the Yamaguchi! I want one of his track bikes sooo bad, as soon as I get the money, and the talent (once I strart racing) I'm going to get that frame, fillet brazed steel. He made some of those bikes used in the Olympics.

My new bike :)

Hi all, relativly new to these forums (well the road bike ones at least, I post a lot in the commuter forums). I've been looking for a road bike so that I could join club rides and to generally get a better work out in when I'm not mountain biking or commuting (an old mountain bike). After peeking at the under $700 road bike thread, I searched some local stores, took a peek at some of the bikes, and finally stumbled upon one today while the wife was buying new skis (Our deal: She gets new skis, I get a new bike).

I was looking at Trek 1000s, but this store had a 2006 Trek 1200 in my size. The listed price was $900, but he gave me a discount so I got it for $710. It's comfortable, although I admit it will take a while to get used to the new shifting. The last time I had a road bike, it was a ten speed with the shifters on the tube

Eventually I'm going to swap out the pedals (clipless), add a computer, and I may end up making some more adjustments due to a back problem I had a while ago.

Hope I got a good deal out of it, cause I expect to get a lot of use out of it

It felt pretty good to me. The right size and all....the rest, I'll have to wait. I haven't ridden a road bike extensivly in many, many years. I've never had a bike with shifters like this, so it's gonna take a bit to get used to it

cblack3, instead of linking to a location on your computer (which is what you've apparently done) try uploading the picture from your computer to a place like https://imageshack.us/. It's free and quite easy.

I got one too, got my March 2006. Satisfied with it.
I upgraded the wheel to Ultegra/Open Pro and someone donated a pair of old school Look pedals.

She was only 62 and she very much wanted to live. Because she couldn't, it's now up to me to live for her. That's how I see it. So, in the process of taking care of myself and getting in shape I fell in love with cycling (again). After putting many miles on my fitness bike, it was time to upgrade to a road bike. I thought it best that I buy a bike for the rider that I aspire to be. So, with my colorful new Pilot and Mom as inspiration, I think I've got it covered.

Gorgeous Bike and a wondful story! Thanks for sharing! Live for mom is something I need to do too!

Way way too much red, damn. a white saddle would look much better. Why do you have such a nice bike and that terrible seat? A medical condition i am guessing?

It's an affliction called old ass That saddle is just soooooo comfortable. I really have tried so many saddles and unfortunatly the one saddle I love only comes in black. The Terry Fly Gel......

My new Cervelo R3 with non-standard parts. The FSA Gossamer crank is for Winter riding and indoor spinning.
I'm thinking of Zero gravity brakes to bring down the weight even more. It's 16 pounds 8oz. as is with the super heavy Gossamer cranks.
Those cranks alone without BB weighs over 1 kg. Zipp 303 tubular wheels would be gravy
