Call me a Neanderthal, but cheap beer, boxed vino and unopened bottles of booze from garage sales make my day. I even recently acquired a Mr. Beer kit to make my own brew this winter. I'm not overly concerned about image, but I am interested in achieving a desired effect. That desired effect helps me complete many frustrating repairs. The money I save goes towards buying more repair parts and supplies.

I am just poking fun.
But... To a Scottish distiller this is actually considered blasphemy in no uncertain terms. However, there is nothing wrong with it and it is the "American" way to drink scotch which is a way and there is nothing wrong with a way. I like to rinse my glass before I pour my dram in. Something round that is comfortable to hold in the palm imparting a small amount of warmth as the residual water mixes with the spirit to intensify and release the natural palette that the distiller has tried to create. If I want a cold refreshment I do like a good G and T.

Not much of a hard liquor drinker, I mainly stick to Miller High Life. It is the champagne of beers. But I really like New Belgiums ABBEY and FAT TIRE. But,my god man, that stuff is liquid fart juice in a bottle. My wife hates it when I drink it.

All I ever drink is water, milk and Powerade on hot rides, but on occasion I'll put down a Grape Crush. No desire for a feeling of intoxication. I do have respect for microbrewers. They can make a good living by putting cool looking labels on their bottles and it makes beer drinkers feel hip and intellectual even if it tastes like crap. I'm thinking about rebottling Bud Light with a label of Einstein riding a road bike up the Alpe.

Agreed on the garage sales booze. A fifth of Martell VS Corgnac for $5. Piper Sonoma sparkling wine for $6. I'm picky on wine, haven't found anything great yet.

Yeah, I suspect that most of the micro-brewery beer - especially the ultra-hoppy stuff - is for showing off. In their heart-of-hearts, I'll bet most of these guys would rather be drinking Budweiser and are just worried that they'll lose internet points over it.
I kind of feel the same about single malt - there's just so much BS when it comes to the stuff, and in some cases it's driven the price all out of proportion.

And now that I've alienated just about everyone, I'll admit that I like a good single malt on occasion (without ice, you heathens) and also a fine sipping tequila, like Cuervo Reserva de la Familia or Porfidio Anejo Single Barrel. I just have a hard time justifying the three figure prices.
On the whole, I'll take a decent rye whisky, like the Canadians that Sixty-Fiver mentioned. For $35-$50 for a very good one, it's hard to go wrong. And failing that, Jack Daniels is a perfectly fine bourbon, despite its low-brow image and disdain from the snobs.

Temporarily working in Germany, so I'm loving the local pilsners.
As far as Bud goes, it IS a pilsner, so I think I'm going to give it another try. I'm not crazy about the ultra-hoppy microbrews. I don't understand why they're doing that.
