I was going to say that I really like the Driftless region but that I'd never ridden there... Then I looked it up and it technically begins about 5 miles away from me. Who knew?
Anyway, I consider it to be Driftless Lite once you get to Hastings, MN/Prescott, WI. One of the rides that I'd like to do this year would be to ride to Prescott, down the WI side and cross back over to MN at Red Wing. Starting from home, that'd prolly be a good 120 miles.
If I were to drive out for a ride, I'd be able to get further down the river, and it'd be a beautiful loop, but the crossings are few and far between, so I'd need to take a close look at it before committing.

Nice riding that is hilly but not difficult and similar to where Datlas rides, maybe slightly gentler, is further east in the Kettle Moraine area, like LaGrange, WI. Think cheese and dairy.

Gotta go pump tandem tires for a ride. We’ll see if we can break 500’ of ascent for the day.

My wife and I stayed in a B&B near Veroqua, WI for a week one time. Finding a doable tandem route of any distance was tough. Finding phone service was hard, too.

Mrs datlas has noticed that I am looking more gaunt than usual. I am down to about 138 which is a few pounds below my baseline of 142-ish.
I tried to explain that this is the normal cycle (sic) as I increase my riding this time of year.
She will have none of it, and has taken it upon herself to "fatten me up" as her project.
Stay tuned.

Oddly enough, we talked to several cyclist who had come there to train in the steep terrain. There was also a pretty decent bike shop there. Of course, this was in either 2006 or 2007 so it may be gone.

Tomorrow looks like 50F to start and 70F to end. I think I will need leg warmers and arm warmers and a vest in order to handle the temperature changes.

This one specific test goes off smoothly every time. Same nurse. Same place. Usually the same time once or twice/month. It really is a rarity in medicine. Going to the main lab for one-off blood work is a nightmare. Register on the machine like I have registered a dozen times before. Wait to get called. Go see a person at one desk. Wait some more. If I am lucky I don't have to go see another person at a second desk.

above 50 I over heat with arm and leg warmers on. But I’m not as “gaunt” as you.

A couple of times in Montana I crossed paths with guys (and one gal) riding the Great Divide MTB Route race. The crazy thing was that someone had already won after only 13 days of riding. The finish is at Antelope Wells, NM, or the border with Mexico. Still, I don't think I could ever do it even at a snail's pace.
