Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Punctured my brand new tire today... it sealed up in 2 seconds. It was windy AF out there but I put on my big boy pants and made it, was too nice to skip going.

Another sign that warm weather is coming: Heidi is willing to consider riding her BSO so I took it out of the shed and pumped up the tires.

Thinking of riding the Gunnar a little more often, I ordered a chain and some other stuff for it. I put the chain on today and saw the shark teeth on the cassette. Frack. I thought that cassette was in better shape. I'll try and ride it tomorrow to see if it skips. I have another cassette that I can't find yet so I might have to buy one.

I guess all my bikes need new drivetrains.

I rode from my house today. Actually feel ok. I guess time will tell. Maybe I can get up to 3 times per week then increase distance. I have no horsepower being out of shape and on the meds. It felt great as brief as it was.

campy 12 at merlin for 2000 roughly. Just took a look to see what they had. In the distant future I would like to put tiagra or 105 on the wife’s bike. They didn’t have any tiagra advertised.
On the ritchey I want to do a 1x11 so I’m thinking apex or rival. Wireless would be nice too but I don’t think they make that for rim brakes.

PCAD wasn’t lying. This is like crack.

glad you got out. Hope the weather was as nice where you are as it was wherever I was this morning. Now I am in Bangor, and it’s Chilly with a lot of white stuff still on the ground.

Just sold another bike. I need to put a couple more back together and sell them. Garage is gonna be spacious soon!

The guy was all "I can't believe you're letting this go!"

I almost took it right back out of his hands.

I was just thinking cassettes, chains, and rings. I do like the Campy 12 stuff and they offer a good selection of rings and cassettes for a change.

I would sell a guitar amp, set it up for the guy to try, and it ALways sounds better than ever.

I wouldn’t mind 12 speed either. Wound love to have something with tighter spacing that gave me a 34 tooth bailout for longer climbs.

The 32/34 on the Revolt is awesome when it gets over 10%

Whoa. When I discovered the thread about half a page down from the top I knew there was some slacking going on in here.

How big of a puncture was it - is it going to be fine with just the sealant?

Good to hear that you're liking the ride quality. Is it a matter of suppleness or grip or what? I don't exactly feel like I've missed out on the GP5K TLs, but there is some minor curiosity about a tire that many consider a benchmark.

It's more supple and seems to have more grip. I will say that with the GP5K I had plenty of similar rock hits that did not result in a puncture like yesterday. However yesterday could also have been a complete fluke.

Yah, it'll be fine with sealant, honestly I probably couldn't find where the puncture happened now if I tried.
