Pretty much it. I mean, the Tri bike is universally faster than the road bike by 2 or so mph on flats based on HR/cadence, less so in the hills, but either way it's fast. There's one flat loop in downtown DC that has a pretty consistent headwind and the P2 was markedly faster into the wind than my Cannondale for a given HR/cadence. As far as splits for an entire ride I really don't have any comparisons, mostly because many of my favorite rides have some higher-traffic areas and I don't really like riding the TT rig in traffic.

Indeed. I heard he has a helmet mirror, too. That's how the hotel guy knew they could talk about bikes. It's like a Fred-secret-handshake.

Eh. A general "I can't answer because of too many variables" (basically what you did) would have been more polite than not responding at all.

It's somewhat nefarious, but I'm trying to generate a Black Hole that sucks all the Bike Weenies out of our Galaxy. Then my work here will be done.
That will leave me as the only buyer for Zipps, Cervelos and Power Meters left in the world, the prices will plummet and it will be mine all mine.

Yeah you have. I've gone to the dark side, and it's some of the most fun I've ever had on a bike. And swimming. And running.

Bottom line is that I gave absolutely no identifying information about the guy I encountered for the very reason that I didn't want to embarrass anyone. Nor did I laugh in his face or anything. Were you paying attention (OK, you and Camilo) you'd know that I calmly answered the guy's question about my bike and went on my way. I just thought the encounter, which you've still completely misread and misinterpreted with your own assumptions was funny.

I met quite the character on my Saturday ride. He pulled up just as I and She Who Must Be Obeyed were getting ready to head out. 80+ years old, been riding the same Ross mtb. for over 20 years. Picking up cans by the side of the road all that time earned him over $75,000. Claimed to have over 150,000 miles on the bike.

And that's exactly what it was... The rip currents AND the 8-foot surf were kinda the factors...
Did kinda so-so. I'm a horrible runner, so you can imagine my joy at getting to do it twice. Kept it fairly easy on the bike in anticipation of more running, when really I should've turned it up on the bike knowing that my run would suck anyway. Took it way too easy but ended up with a 21.4mph average and picked off a ton of people on the road. So I made up a good amount of ground on the bike, but not as much as I could/should have. My result was pretty mediocre but I've only been back and training since July. Bottom line, though, I had a blast. I dare say it was more fun than a road bike race...

Then again, being a typical Squid, I tremble and cry like a little girl at the thought of running.
I'm a little amazed to find this thread still running. I figured my one day or so abduction into the real world would have been enough it to see it's end. Lucky me, I think.

Mods please change thread title to:
I came. Therefore I posed.
(still trying to grasp that idea of taking a bike into a hotel lobby to check in. not to mention that I actually spent time reading this thread.)

Because I couldn't figure out how to open the window of the hotel room from the outside? It's a freakin' bike. Just like bringing your bags in when you check in (which I also had with me).
