Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GM also had issues with the 8 speed automatic in C7s. The cooling issues on early C7 Z06s were a classic GM face palm. My new C7 is a 2017 the 4th year of production and a manual transmission. 7 months, 5300 miles, zero issues. Generally C7 Corvettes have been quite reliable, most owners would tell you they have had no problems. Either way to buy a car with comparable performance you're talking about a Porsche, Audi, Ferrar etc. @ 2-3x the price.

With respect to whacking off, when I undergo shoulder surgery in August or September I won't be able to properly do that, or any of my other favorite activities: cycling, guitar or driving my stick shift car. Five weeks. Fucque Moi.

Gotta have it. I was shoveling snow in March, hauled off to drive the snow shovel forward and *bam* hit a piece of immovable ice. Saw stars from the pain in my right shoulder, found out later I tore tendon that attaches the top of the bicep to the shoulder clear off. It's getting worse, I had originally scheduled the surgery for July 10 or whatever, and I had to pick up the Ambien and Percoset the doc prescribed for post op by June 1 or the script was going to expire. That was 50+ days ago, I had 60 pain pills and in the meantime I've taken 30 of them here and there for pain, including the past two mornings where I woke up @ 4AM in massive pain and had to take one pill each day. This AM it's not so bad, really trying to control the pain with Advil which mostly works, but not always.

I predict that the inability to wank properly may lead me to becoming ambidextrous during my surgical recovery.

That's awful.

At least surgery is an option. What did injured folks do 100 years ago?

All the AARP jokes about Corvette owners are fine. When you're shooting gaps on the highway it's like you're in a race car and everybody else is driving Trabants.

It's 3:30 AM. Slept on this stupid shoulder wrong now it's killing me and I'm wide awake in the middle of the night. The Advil isn't working. Sigh. I haven't taken a pain pill since Wed. AM but I may have to do it to get back to sleep. I may have to move up this surgery.

If it hurts that much, you may want to ask for a shot. It won't fix the problem, but it may buy you a couple of months.

Recently joined the AARP car club. Mine is sort of the equivalent to steel in real in a bicycle, but in fiberglass.

The first cortisone shot lasted less than two weeks.

Unpossible. Just like the sound barrier. The closer you get to 60,000, the more erratic you become until at 59,999 you simply asplode. Can't be done.
