Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This was pretty much my impression after two visits. No need for a third.

... though I didn't have the pancakes.

One of my idle saddles is a Fizik Kurve Snake - same shape as the Arione.

I know it’s sacrilege but pretty much every road saddle I have used (which is maybe a half dozen) all feel about the same to me.

Glasses will still fog up if it's really cold and you have it pulled up over your nostrils... just don't pull it up over your nostrils. Most of the time I just wear it on my neck - it helps a lot. If it's cold, I'll cover my mouth. If it's really cold I'll stay inside.
When you get old enough to need cataract surgery, you will only need glassed for close reading so fogged up glasses are in the past.

If not those, I'd probably pick up some Praxis.
I like Praxis chainrings. Three of my bikes have them.

I'm considering the Praxis Zayante Carbon for my CruX upgrade.

My experience too. All bad. After > 45 years on road bikes, I’m amazed I can still move all five.

Ill check it out, thanks. I had the one that goes over the nose. Usually I wear it below 40 to get started. It takes me a moment to warm up and then I start shedding.
The one i have, wraps around your face via velcro and it cost a dollar at walmart.

Pancakes are ok, as long as they are not fried in lard.

Try pulling mask down so your nose is not covered?

I wouldn't say that all of the saddles I've tried or used over the years feel the same, but I'm pretty tolerant of different saddles.

I tested all of the Specialized saddles last year and they all felt fine. I just got the fancy version of the Toupe for the Allez, since I have one on my Langster.

<googling>That's for flexible riders? I'm average flexible at best.

I suppose I should re-establish what my sit width is.

I went through a period where any saddle would be ok for a while, then torture. I measured my sit bones, found out I was on too narrow of a saddle and started all over with the search. Settled on specialized Romin/Romin evo. Once they are dialed in..fabulous. Your mileage will most likely vary..

What's your test? Riding around the parking lot on one? Or a full ride?

So when a newb customer comes in, asking about saddles, what rules of thumb do you use to narrow the field down?

People above are trying to tell me it doesn't make any difference.
