Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Silicon, aka glass, is too heavy for the strength it provides. Carbon is a bargain.

It is the plastic which is molded and cured, not the carbon fiber. That just goes along for the ride. Pun!

Thoughts?
Look at www.workswellbikes.com. For under $500 you can get a very fine carbon frame.

It is commonly made from another plastic fiber, polyacrylonitrile, also known as Orlon. The hydrogen and nitrogen are baked out of it to leave just the carbon fibers.

I've always wanted a dumb light SS bike but could never justify it. One of these days I'm going to buy a WW frame (or similar) and build something up just for the ****s and giggles.

close. I'm an accountant not a material scientist. I know the basics: carbon fibre strands/cloth are mixed with liquid resins and hardeners and then a magic bike happens. I do know that the more resin you can squeeze out during the moulding/curing process the stronger and lighter the frame will be.

I'm just envious. I'm not solvent enough to afford a carbon wonder bike. They are super expensive over here. I'll have to settle for my titaniaum, aluminium and steel bikes.

They could get expensive here in a hurry too, if our Leader decrees it.

That is a shame. Can’t you have the J-bend cut off a longer, regular spoke and the straight stub threaded. Good shops generally have thread rolling machines. .

Also back from the cardiologist. My heart has been proclaimed healthy as a horse. No angina even. I've been instructed to act my age and all will be well. But all is not perfect. I have UTI.
What is UTI? I was wondering if your problem could be exercise-induced asthma causing oxygen depletion and jaw pain.
