I am 90% in. I am trying to talk my wife into coming, but the 45 miles has her a bit spooked.

Sweeeeet!
Honestly, what's probably going to happen is that all but 2 or 3 of us will do the 62, and since my wife will be in the group of 45'ers, they'll probably take one of the "early escape routes" I'll have marked on the cue sheet and cut it to 35-40.
It's not that my wife can't do the 45, it's more that she'll probably want to be back early to shower and start getting the food ready.

Cool derath.
Ok, now who wants to do the 62 and who wants to do the shorter ride?
Paul (cydewaze) - 62
Jessica (juf2m) - 45
Bill (wj13us)
Bobby (bobby_c) - 62?
Liv (my wife - not on BF)
Matt (Gurana)
Ken (cc_rider)
Denny (trekden)
Erich (Relaxer)
Dan (Derath)
I'm asking because the 45 ride could be anything. It could be 40, or 35, etc. So once we know who wants the shorter ride, those people can decide how far they want to ride.

P.S. Here's the proposed 'short' route. It's 44 miles, and just over 2000' of climbing:

I’m looking at the shorter ride. My reasoning is the CWC is the weekend before and well I don’t recover like I used to.
I’m looking forward to riding in the area though I live relativity close by I generally don’t do the DC area.
I would not mind the 62 but since it’s a no drop I’d hate to have you guys keep waiting for me.
Besides I’d be more than happy to start flipping burgers until everyone gets back.
As far as distance I think something more along the line of 30 might be better since 45 is not all that much different from 62, you might attract some more people that way.

OK - I'm in for the 62, Liv for the 45. BTW - you need to add .5 miles to the route Paul - gotta make it to a Metric! Maybe ride around the block a couple of times and show those punk***** kids a thing or two (before I need a nap).

lol, it'll be a full metric. The actual mileage is always more than routeslip says because you can't really ride in perfectly straight lines like the map plots out. It might even be closer to 63.

Yea, I find that i get particularly wobbly as my mileage increases. It's a kind of viscious cycle because as it increases the total distance the trip will take, it just gets worse... I theorize that there is a magic number of miles that will make the amount of wobbling too great to overcome, and therefore I will never reach my destination. Of course, this is just a theoretical number, because under normal circumstances I would just pass out before long.

Ok, as far as food goes, we have two options.
1) We can have everyone bring something for the grill, in which case we should probably make a list of what everyone's bringing so we don't have 10 bags of chips and nothing to drink.
or
2) Jess and I could just order a few large pizzas and a couple of bottles of soda or whatever you guys want to drink (which we'd be happy to do).
I'm leaning toward the pizza because then we get to eat quicker. Plus, it saves me having to clean the grill

Pizza works for me, but your grill does needs a good cleaning. I'm thinking of bring some pies for dessert - work for you?

Graw! We have to visit the inlaws that weekend in Queens, so I'm out. DAMN!
I removed my name from the list, so it should be current.

Hi guys --
I'm about 60% for the 62...if you'll have me.
BTW, I just did the Lancaster averaging 15.8...not sure which group that puts me in, but I think a pace of 16 is about my max right now.

Cyde -Adrien brings up a good question about groups. We're you planning on 1 group that splits up at the point where the 45'ers turn back or will the two groups be separate? If you want to split them (so one can go faster), I'd be happy taking the 45 miler out....

I've been thinking about that. The 62 splits off near the end of the ride (putting all the nice hills at the end of the ride, hehehe) so I have a feeling that the main group will split somewhere along the way early on.

I've been getting some questions about start time. I'm thinking no later than 10am. What's everyone else think?

Well, I for one would not mind a 10am start. I'll probably drive down, and back the day of the ride. But if the others would prefer an earlier start, don't make it 10am just for me. Plus I'm still not 100% sure if I can make it or not.
