I'd ride it into the ground. And then put aerobars on it.

Bikes: so many

I'd buy it. I'm sure it will provide minutes and minutes of pleasure to it's new owner.

My piece of **** fixie is even better then that, it's at least vintage steel and has a properly dished rear wheel.

Bikes: a bunch of track stuff.

a good reason to form a demolition derby, for fixed gear bikes and the fools who love them.

Bikes: your mother on wheeeeeelz

yeah, why DON'T you guys like a bike from target (who are known for their quality bicycles) coverted and then loctite'd so the hub can come apart at any time, putting the rider in serious danger?

geez!

Because, depending on who you ask, we're either no-fun old codgers, or else we need to "grow up."

okay, be fair. if the loctite fails the hub isn't going to 'come apart'. the cog is going to spin off. now, that's bad, but it's not busted-cone-nuts-and-ball-bearings-all-over-the-road bad.

besides, done properly, a loctite job should never fail. that stuff is tough. i strongly suspect that when people have loctite problems it's because they didn't degrease the threads before squirting the loctite on.

I don't know if I'll agree with that but I have been going two months on my loctite hub without fail, I'm almost 200lbs and I skid.

FINALLY! All I could think looking at that ad was "somebody is going to get a sweet deal on a polo bike".

Obviously it's not going to work for extended rides, but it's still got two wheels and a drivetrain.

and for about 40 bucks and the cost of a wheel build, or just a new rear wheel, you could have a perfectly
functional beater fixed gear that is moderately fast and looks awesome. sure, it will probably never be as much of a bike as a mercier or a windsor or something else, but unless some idiot buys it for 200 it will probably be less than half any other bike you can find for you to do it up right, albeit with a bad chainline.

then again, if target really has marked these down to 40 bucks you'd be an idiot to not just buy one from them and do it yourself.

If you learn to build a wheel yourself and find the parts at a co-op, it's a fine bike for $60-$70.
