Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Advice on whether or not to purchase

Hey I found that fixed gear bike on craigslist. One gear bike (Fixie) <--- there's the link. Is this a good deal? Please help me!

Bikes: Felt TK2, Felt Z5

What is your budget? Does the bike fit you? The brake/handlebar setup on there is for the most part all wrong. Those are track drops that are just angled up and a brake lever was added for the rear wheel. Knowing what I know now, I would pass on that.

My budget is low. The bike would theoretically fit me, but I have not actually sat on the thing. Thanks for the input, I've never rode a fixed gear but am considering checking it out, so my knowledge is limited.

It looks like a piece of crap and was built with piece of crap parts so probably pass on just about anything like it.

Generally good to avoid Craigslist unless you really know your stuff and the seller knows what they are selling and can give you enough info to prove it is theirs and not a stolen bike. I see a lot of bikes on CL that are in need of repair, stolen, poorly put together, overpriced or something like that.

Bikes: '84 Basso Pista, Masi Heinz '57 SS beater. Couple Stingrays...

The person selling it hardly gave any facts about the bike. Only his or hers personal feelings towards the bike. Save yer money. Get something that's not gonna make you hate bikes.
