Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

There's a lot of individual stuff here that I don't usually like, but damn this is beautiful.

Yup, it's some sort of marbled brown cork bar tape.

Not you, it is. I need a new seatpost, one notch nose down and the saddle is pointed too far down, but move it back that same notch and it sits where it is right now.

Beautiful specimen - though I find it odd that you took the time to remove the downtube, toptube, and both front and rear fork decals, but left the terrible "fatties fit fine" on the chainstays

I was a fatty when I bought my Cross Check, and that sticker has always been my favorite detail on it. Can't speak for the other guy, but he may have equally personal reasons for it.

we have a saying in the off-road industry "chrome wont get you home" sure looks pretty on a bike though.

I used to have chrome wheels and brakes but decided to break that up with some black accents and I'm much happier with the way it looks. Too much chrome can be overwhelming.

Could have broken it up even more with black wall tires.

Jeremy says it perfectly:

Got a bit of heft myself. I enjoy the play on words with it. Plus I like fatter tires.

Also got some updated shots of my SSCX winter commuter/townbike. Quite enjoy it in this current iteration, nice and spinny 39/20 for tons of snow and slowly climbing anything out there.
