I'm trying to put together a Brick Lane Bikes Lo Pro.
I bought it with crappy components. Gonna strip it down to just the frame set and start over.

My question is just aesthetics.

Silver components or black? I don't need you to pick parts for me (unless you can't help yourself).
I can't make up my mind.
The only thing i am certain about is black rims, probably around 40mm.

Why so deep? Are you in Chicago? (which would actually be a bad place for deep rims because of wind)

Personally I would go with the highest quality components I could afford though on that bike silver or black. However for me I would do silver components like a nice Sugino 75DD crankset and maybe a Nitto stem, seatpost and bar. Polished high flange hubs and maybe some polished Velocity Quills. I don't know their bikes well but it would look quite classy with the polished silver who wouldn't want that lovely deep green with a little polish to it ; )

I agree with veganbikes....silver components would give a nice classy contrast.
However, we all know that blacked out bikes go Faster........

Grey rims, silver everything else.

Boyd Altamont is a semi-deep rim that comes in a nice grey.

Huh HAAA! I had that frame in an open FB marketplace tab, then it was marked sold. There's another complete BLB lo-pro bike still up in town, though it's apparently on the small side.

My vote is for silver, with a honey saddle and nice tanwall open tubulars. Painted components on a fixed gear bike scream cheap to me. Do they still do a glossy charcoal anodizing, or smoked chrome?

Even riding 25mm deep old school aero road rims will push your bike around on our frequent gusty days. I also didn't want to deal with the added rotating weight when starting from a stop in traffic.

No need to apologize, there is no redundancy when it comes to good taste. The more people saying it the better. Heck if we say it enough maybe Nitto will sponsor us. I certainly have plenty of their products and they are all great.

Well I decided to go with silver components.
Nitto stem, Nitto bullhorn, BLB seat post, FSA cranks and Miche wheel set with silver spikes and hubs.

I love what you did. Because contrast, man! For a dark colored frame like yours, silver components look best. Light color frames look better with black components.

Another good choice would have been gold components. (Still contrasts, but gives a richer overall vibe.) Just have to be careful to not overdo it, like gold everywhere.

My dark red Steamroller (unofficial color way name: bloody stool) usually runs on gold hubs. This was not a deliberate decision; I just happened to find a good deal on the wheels, but I think it looks great. I’ve often contemplated adding a gold stem top cap and seat post collar, and keeping everything else black. Currently, however, it has mostly black components with a few silver details.

I’m all about consistency/cohesion, but here’s one more place where I like contrast and think it would look super on your lo-pro: hubs and rims one color (either black or silver) and spokes the other. You’re pretty close, with the silver hubs/spokes and black rims. Not knocking you, though. It’s beautiful as is.

I agree with the gold accents. It has a gold badge on head tube, and gold bolts on cranks, but could use a little more.
