Grips on Bullhorns

Anyone ever see grips similar to this on bullhorns (squishy rubber types). If not do you think it'd work? Are they comfy in general?

that bike is still ridiculous. and it's still on ebay.

back on topic, i don't think they'd be long enough for my airwings, but they might work on some choppy flippys.

Bikes: IRO

I run grips on drops like in the picture and my son runs grips on bull horns. To get them on you have to lube them up with a soapy solution to get them on and then leave them for a day or so to dry.

They look like standard Mtb grips to me, like OURY's.....I'm sure they'll work fine.

Your favourite flavour. I'm not a personal fan of the oury's, I like pedro's grips better. Go to a LBS and check out their selection of grips; they should have plenty.

I like Serfas grips. But any standard mtb grip should behave that way. The semi-transparent ones are nice because they let the bling through.

the first time i put grips on i used vegetable oil. what a mess! it works though.

next time i used soapy water and that was MUCH easier. go with soap!

OURY grips rock!!! It's like having front suspension on your bike. I use them on my nitto bulls on my IRO. Like Tony said, a soapy solution let sit for a day works great.

Shouldn't rubbing alcohol work for getting those grips on? You'd just have to do it super fast before it evaporates.

Bikes: too many...

the best way to put grips on (imo) is with an air hose and compressor. If you dont have access to one use aerosal hairspray. the hairspray acts as a lubricant when installing the grips and then drys as an adhesive...

I used a good mess of rubber cement to slide my Pedro Prayer Stix on. They specifically say to use rubber cement and not hairspray or any other product containing alcohol to get them on. I love them and they're on solid now, but it literally took something like a couple of weeks for them to stop sliding around.

edit: this was on my mtb, by the way. I can't imagine trying to get them all the way down to the stem on a set of bullhorns or drops. Have I mentioned that I love cork tape? It does it all.

you can basically use anything wet that evaporates nicely to put on grips. everyone has their own "favorite way". Hairspray works, alcohol works, gasoline works, windex works. I use windex because it's under my sink. I wouldn't hesitate using any of these things.... except maybe the gasonline.

Alright now I know how to get them on but does anybody know of an LBS in New York that sells oury?

Mmm, ourys (ouries?) and a 2.3" tire running at 35psi - it's like having a suspension fork!

Bikes: Schwinn Le Tour III (fixed)

I used a pair of old mountain bike Wilderness Trail grips. I pushed thme onto the bars and rolled them all the way down to the stem, like in the picture you posted. Then I unrolled them and "Presto"! Done. Then rolled back the outer ends a little and wrapped the remaining exposed bars with cloth tape. Rolled the ends of the mountain grips back down. Now my bullhorns have a cushy center for when Im just cruising, and a grippy surface for when Im climbing or forward on the bars... you know...the sweaty slippery part of biking.

Sorry to hijack a little: what's the fastest drying lubricant (rubbing alcohol, rubber cement, soapy water, hairspray) to use?
