What truly defies logic is that most people seem to know intuitively that the "war" on drugs is a colossal failure and a menace to civil liberties, but give them a chance to stop it with their votes and nine times out of ten they'll vote to keep things the way they are. Thus, no politician anywhere--even on the so-called "libertarian" wings of the Democratic or Republican parties--is willing to come out and call for an end to the madness, on the record.

I think that being against the "drug war" has made it seem like you're for drugs. I think politicians are afraid of being labeled "stoners" or some stupid crap. I don't see why the gov't doesn't want to legalize pot, then tax it, and do all that, just like they do with tobacco, and alcohol.

For some reason, even staunch religious people think that pot is the demon seed, while alcohol is okay. It doesn't really make sense, as alcohol causes MANY more deaths per year than pot "deaths". People drink, and beat their wives, crash their cars, die from alcohol poisoning, etc.

It's a crazy world we live in...

That's just it. They can't count on making their cut thru taxes. Alcohol (at least liquor) is a totaly different animal- it takes more expertise to make safely. Buying 'shine during Prohibition was such a risky thing because you really never knew what was in it. It makes sense to regulate the manufacture of distilled spirits for just this reason. But how many people don't have a green enough thumb to grow their own weed if given the chance? Also, the government can't become involved in the regulation of weed for the same reason not many Congressmen have the stones to support decriminalization- there are too many people who would object even to implied governmental consent thru taxation of the product.

The funny thing is that the same clowns who call weed a "gateway" drug don't seem to be able to wrap their minds around the fact that legalization reduces the "gateway" aspect. Duh, so long as the laws make weed a black market item, it'll be a black market item.

It's just a ****ed-up situation, and it'll stay this way until there are enough smokers that the public realizes that the greater harm is being done in the attempt to stop it.

I'll give credit where credit is due, except for the getting caught part, Mr. Smiley Face. If you've ever driven in a car with 20 or more 1/4s, in separate bags, of a naturally occuring substance, it is pretty nerve racking. even 5 miles. but 50 on a bike is way less risky. We used to make 12.50 a quarter, that's pretty good if you can sling a lot of bags and spend the day on your bike. You win! sell 10 quarters a day, and you are living large. spend 22.50 a day on cold drinks and good eats as you cruise the city. actually sounds kind of fun.

I don't know much about the economics of such things, but $250,000 divided eleven or twelve ways for 100kg of pot is what? *****? Does that sound right?

In Canada, we are introducing an ironic twist.
Posession of small amounts of pot becoming a misdemeanor, while posession of any amount of untaxed tobacco is still a Federal offence.
So, a couple of pot plants in the basement is a hundred dollar fine, a couple of tobacco plants, is minimum five.

Pot's not my thing, so I know little of its price, but as I stated above, $250 large divvied twelve ways doesn't go far in my neck of the woods. And I imagine it carries less in a big town like Philly. Might be fun, but that racket sounds (as the bust proves) like a short-lived kind of fun.

If you get major quantities, kilos, you make more than 12.50 a 1/4. and you make it on 1000's of 1/4s. They probably watched office space right before they decided to give it a go, now they get fedearl pound me in the a$$ prison.

Ya we had quite the herb smokin crew workin the streets here as reg messengers for awhile, we all had nextels, the code phrase was 420 happening @ such and such and all the stoners would zip over there and blaze.I miss those days, work was more fun back then, now its all serious and the indie's like me have taken over, we're up to our eyeballs in court filings and too busy for much fun anymore.

This is funny! I read something on the net about "the lucky messenger whose bag is one big stash pocket" I guess at times it's true!

Bikes: crappy fake bike

If they were selling it at an average of 3.3g for 100 bucks, the service had to be making more than 60 dollars for each eigth, which is probably alot more money than was reported. Also, how does anyone know how the service laundered its money? Did they have a front for the operation? I always heard about the delivery service but never had any experience dealing with the people. My buddy did tell me they delivered him something via snowmobile in the dead of winter though.

i understood it to be that you got a business card with a number. That number was tied to a location (i think). Basically, you'd call, punch in your code and the dude would show up with an assortment, sort of like the avon lady.

Bikes: allez fuji tracku nishiki TT GT KHS arrow Miner 29'er CIOCC Corsair and now a f*cking awesome waterford skeet velo

that's pretty much how it's done all over nowadays, but usually you reach a live dispatcher. this puts ppl's mind at rest - it beats paging and waiting 4 hours for nothing..

That's pretty sweet. Around here, supply never keeps up with demand... or so I'm told

I wouldn't think a business like that could go unnoticed by authorities for very long.

very true. I meant in general referring to the similar operations people have mentioned. They gave my friend 30 hours of community service for taking a piss in an alley. Handcuffs and all.
