Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

They're a fine rim.
I think they're ugly.

Totally agree.
I didn't mean to direct that specifically at you or your comment.
I meant it more as a general sentiment.

Yerm. I actually switched to drop bars on a Nitto stem. That 160mm jawn was too damned long.

Hi. Who would've thought Bike porn could become so popular? Hehe I can't miss a day. Thanks for putting the time in to fill everyone's insatialable appetite for it... (Paypal donation should be in motion)

Here's my 1975 Raleigh Twenty; Picked it up in lime green metallic stock condition about a year ago after seeing a few including Cheg and Sheldon's.

Spent a while picking up parts to turn it into my daily commuter with a 7 speed SRAM hub; I've just taken the plunge to go fixed after a while of humming and ha-ing. The idea is I can easy switch back to my 7-speed with a quick change of the whole wheel and chain. Hence the strnage position of the switch-box, detached rear brakes and preponderance of cables. Here's to flexibility! (even if it doesn't look as slick as it might totally stripped).

Running 54t -> 14t (72.1 inches) on 406 bmx wheels with Slick Continental Grand Prix it can't half go fast. Good job the brakes are good haha... Hi to all the other Fixed Twenties! Nice one I'll shut up now Huw huw(a)littlepixel.info

Parts list: Original 20 Frame Original Handlebars 2x 406 BMX Black Alloy Rims 2x 405 1 1/8" Continental Grand Prix tyres Shimano Deore V-Brakes front and rear. Chilli Works Suspension fork (cheap and cheerful) Tange headset Kalloy Adjustable Stem Cane Creek bar-ends Shimano UN-72 Bottom Bracket, held in with Phil Wood rings Shimano Tiagra Cranks with 54t Stronglight chainring Shimano Dura Ace 14t track cog spun onto BMX flipflop hub and glued Shimano SPD clipless pedals SRAM gold link bmx chain

I used to have the red version of that bike. It was too small and had to be sold You can't tell from the picture, but the paint is metallic and there's chrome underneath. The decals are made of reflective material. So pretty.

I just saw that chain for the first time the other day on a friends bike ... HEAVY-DUTY to say the least noisy as hell though. I want one.

I was kind of wondering what the point is of that chain. I'd love it for sprocket grinding, but I'm not about to do that on a road bike. The weak point of chains always seems to be the pins anyway - I've had them come out and leave me stranded.
