Well, good luck with that.
I certainly don't agree. And I think the picture posted in part two is offensive, but I let that slide because it's a view point.

Perhaps you're right. I certainly do have a problem with people being A$$hole$, and I do make effort to put a stop to such things. Is this right? I don't know. I guess my problem actually stems from a belief the words can REALLY hurt people, even words said in jest, and you can't take them back once they're said. I would much rather people be respectful and get their point across. I think the principle of being respectful should be fairly self-explanitory and people should just do it. I'm by no means saying I'm anywhere near perfect, but it is my intent to help everyone treat everyone else as real human beings. I suppose I'm still trying to convert everyone to my belief system (or whatever you want to call it), but dangit, I have to live in this world to, and I'd like to not get shat upon every time I leave the house (or stay in the house in the instance of this community). I dunno, I think it's a pretty straight-forward extension of the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The whole point of the whole idea is that you have the right to do whatever the **** it is you want to do provided it doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights to do the same. My pursuit of happiness is trying to get people to not infringe on anyone else's rights.

I've used to to some success. And it's been used on me to some success.
Sure when it's done for PURE HATE then it's wrong. But when it's part of a normal dissagreement, it's fine. In fact it's natural.
In your world, you'd prefer that no one said anything wrong or slightly offended anyone. We'd all be nice, and friendly and good and sweet.
Well, live in your world: ride in mine.
Don't be a menace with your better than thou attitude either.

A joke poking fun at your friend made to your friend with the intent to make them think about something is VERY different than a joke made to anyone about someone else. I guess that's where I would draw the line. I think there are plenty of ways to disagree, to think someone is completely full of *****, whatever, and still be respectful. I am horrible at this on the street. I'm a complete @ss to anyone I feel is infringing on my right to ride safely on the street. I'm not even a little convinced that this helps anything, or that it is actually what I SHOULD be doing in accordance with my philosophy, but my fear of death has a tendency to come out as pure rage in the direction of the person I think is threatening that right.
Fact of the matter is that you, despite your disagreement about aspects of what I'm saying, are still having a positive intelligent conversation with me without being insulting. I don't have any desire to live in a world where everyone agrees about everything, I just think people shouldn't be @sses about it.
I really apologize for the attitude or appearance of attitude. That is NOT my intention. I don't want to be better than anyone, I would like everyone to be equally pleasant to everyone else.

I have a question... why do any of you give a flying ****?
I looked over that site a while ago.. I think that it was linked through the fixie gallery.. Anyway, I looked through it and the stuff they sell just to check it out. I had no idead about the mission part of the site nor do I have any interest in it now.
What difference does the religeous affliction of those kids make? You don't wanna buy their **** then don't... you don't wanna see the religeous blahblahblah on their site DON'T LOOK AT IT! They have a right to their opinion, a right to their religeon and a right to express it.

I'm a ****in pirate not a messenger, i dont talk about cred i dont care if your bike is NJS-certified track or an old road frame conversion or if its even a fixed, i pillage and have fun. I'm one of those rare cyclists on the DC area trails that is actually smiling. I have donated to bikeforums.
I'm not terribly interested in supporting anyone who pushes their religous views on me or the public, there are more than enough missions around to convert the people who need converting, do we really need LBS spreading the gospel? There is a time and a place and i just dont think the bike shop is the place. I'm sure there are many here who agree completely with me, and many others who feel the opposite and need to 'save' as many souls as possible. if all they are trying to do is say 'we're a bunch of trustworthy christians' well thats their deal, but i kind of doubt it considering the quote.
everyone is entitled to their opinions and to voice them. if its overly offensive and without merit the moderators will take care of it. I'll post any complaints i have, thanks.

actually, a number of people have posted on here that he specifically does NOT preach unless asked. The fact of the matter is that there ARE Christians who are NOT ashamed that they are Christians but don't make a big deal out of it. The Scallywag Bike Club has "Jesus Is Lord" on the back of their jackets but that is the total and entire extent of their preaching unless someone asks them a question about it. Christians who are actually on top of their ***** are aware that preaching at people doesn't really do anything but turn them off. My impression of this Gary fellow is that that is where he's at. He's not ashamed, but it IS in fact the center of his life, and if you observe things in his life, it's natural that they will come out. It's like me, I'm a vegetarian. I don't think meat is good for you, etc, but I'm not going to jump around and tell you not to eat meat, but I'm also not going to try to hide it if you ask. I like bikes, I ride bikes, I'm happy to tell people about all the good that bikes can do for them if they ask, but I have no need or desire to be some kind of bike-evangelist. That doesn't mean that my user info shouldn't say that I like bikes or that I don't eat meat.
Also, my objection is not to people voicing their opinions, my objection is aimed directly at people making fun of people as a way of stating their opinion. How would you like it if people made fun of you?

I've dealt with Gary a couple of times over the phone and e-mail and found him to be a really nice guy. Never pushed anything except his love for excellent bikes. Even if he would have made some comments, I'd respect it. Hey, whatever motivates you to get up and go to work in the mornings works for me...!
