it's not the best, but it's something.
Is this a NJS approved theft prevention measure?

How does one go about removing the glue when you need to change a part? Just chisel away at it?

I just got back from the Victoria, at least 70+ bikes were chained up in front, but once the show was out it was a trust-based 'take your bike' system. I took mine and nobody even questioned it- I wonder how easy someone else could've? There were some PRICEY machines in that pile.

Bikes: 1 Mikkelsen custom. (Brooks Pro, Phils)

I just got back from the same screening at the Victoria..I locked up my bike to a pole that was by the entrance of an alley kitty-corner from the theatre. I checked to make sure the pole was secure and that it couldn't get pulled out and also that the top of the pole had a secure sign on it 'cause I''ve heard of thieves sometimes sliding locked bikes straight up and off a pole. I didn't want to **** with that whole 'lock my bike up with a hundred other bikes and then have to wait after the show to retrieve it' deal....just seemed like a pain in the ass. Thank christ my bike didn't get stripped...I've got a Brooks and Phil's...By the way, where did you lock your bike up? Was it in the alley across the street or DIRECTLY across the street? That sucks someone did that to you..I wonder if maybe they know you/your bike and have a vendetta against you? Or just the usual lack-of-respect/greed thing.
Hopefully you'll find out who did it and break their face with your u-lock.

G- that blows! Quick justice served and horrible face-rotting karma to the thief.

Makes the sweet baby peloton cry.

Bikes: Trek road bike, schwinn fixed conversion

Hey Galen,
You might not want either but I have a Brooks Pro still in great shape and a Fizik: pave saddle in good shape. You can have either if you want 'cause I feel like such an idiot for not buying your wheelset earlier this year. I'll send you either one or if you will be in Chicago for the Meat n' Greet. I've got tons of folding tires that I'll probably bring for trade, batering purposes, seeing that I might be kinda broke.
PM me if you need anything along those lines....
Drew
P.S. All the tires are new.

i parked where you did.

vendetta? i seriously doubt it. besides, the bike was so new i doubt that there was anyone there outside of the regular crew who even knew it was mine.

yo Dolface,
i had no idea this happened until reading the thread just now. that really sucks. no wonder you were sportin' the (very beautiful) Fuji the whole weekend.

i locked my bike up both nights with the "valet" mess - we were asked to self-lock your bike, and then "your key was your ticket." it could've been easy to walk out of there with someone else's ride.

i go down Division every day - will keep eye out.

word,
D

back in business. the stem is too short, and i want to put b-123aa's back on there, as well as get a new saddle and seatpost, but it will do for now.

huge thanks to all who offered parts and/or sympathy, you guys rock.

(mike, i didn't use your seatpost, so i'll get that back to you next time i see you, or i can drop it off somewhere if you like).

man capp is all bad. hope you get that **** back. those mission crackheads are cutty man. what about that guy that's out on valencia trying to sell those ugly ball point pen drawings every day to get him and his "nine year old" a hotel room. A week ago I saw this bum with baggy pants riding a newish 2003 brakeless fuji fixed. death to all bike thieves.

*puts on flame ******ant suit*

I'm going to come out and say that i don't agree with death to thieves, bum bashing, making fun of crackheads etc. I'm not saying it doesn't suck because it does. It just bums me out even more to hear people talking **** on people who have it (and probably have their whole life) way harder than them. Yes you will see the same person who stole your **** selling it on a corner a block away so they can buy more drugs and it can be infuriating. However, I think we need to look at the system and our own roles in urban gentrification. You can go beat down homeless people (whose housing was probably demolished decades ago to make way for some hipster art studio) and curse the crackheads, you might even get your stolen goods back, but don't think for a minute that these actions will put and end to bike theft.

*braces self for onslaught of "PC" accusations, death threats, etc.*

i definitely agree. my reply was definitely out of line, talking **** on people I know nothing about. And i feel for the homeless man. But i also think you need to draw the line between the desperate homeless trying to survive and the desperate crackheads trying to get their fix. It's pretty hard for me to feel a sense of sympathy towards those that are addicted to that **** while theyre stealing my bike to try to get some money. And i dont seriously believe in killing all bike thieves at all. This conversation could really go on forever about the lack of services and help in San francisco, but i'm not really trying to do that.
