Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

cool stuff! where are you studying? my undergrad was loosely related where i researched 'management and mitigation of environmental impacts in canadian mountain national parks'...more policy-/legislation-driven focus. my graduate reseach shifted direction to explore areas of business sustainability and organic foods.

i always thought doing something akin to NOLS would be fun, but i now find myself exploring japan and teaching english (and not doing much related to either of my degrees...go figure, but i am having fun!).

I'm at a small state school in New York. I did a NOLS semester a few years ago. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I'm planning on doing a mountaineering trip this summer.

My masters project is related bike commuting and my feeble attempt to make this city more bicycle friendly. I'm one of those weird people who like bikes and all that crazy outdoor stuff.

Ohh, Japan. Cool. That's on my list of fun places to go!
