Bikes: Giant OCR1(specialized carbon seatpost,Terry Fly sadle, Syntace C2): Leader TT frame, Easton EC70fork, Aerolite bars, nashbar bullhorn, Titan Wheels: Fuji Track Pro(2003)

I am thinking of "upgrading" my new Fuji Track Pro to a more "track look".
I am looking for a threadless stem with an aggressive drop like the quill track stems.

The closest I have found is the Thomson Elite MTB stem. It comes in silver, can be up to a 15 deg rise(drop?) and comes in a 25.4 mm version which should work with the Nitto's.

Does anyone here use one? Would it work? Is there anything MTB specific that I have not thought of?

15 deg drop on a 75ish head tube will be horizontal. Other than that, MTB stems work OK.

We've done this a few times on this site. Theres some good advice in these threads:

1 1/8" stems that don't suck..? (threadless)
https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespeed-fixed-gear/103186-1-1-8-stems-don-t-suck-threadless.html

Track specific threadless stem?

The Thompson stems are really nice, but 15 deg drop is really not going give you much of a slant and on most bikes its going to be close to neutral when installed. So if you want an old school slope to your stem you need to look elsewhere; otherwise its a great stem.

I wouldn't get so hooked on the "look" that you create an uncomfortable ride- what is it you really want to accomplish? Are you a track racer who need to be aerodynamic for a few minutes at time? Or are you an urban rider who spends long hours tooling around town? Then again, -15 deg isn't much...

Thanks for the suggestions and links(tried to search..but could not figure out how to pare my wording to get a reasonable number of hits)

This bike is to be ridden/raced on the track only. The frame is a little smaller than "optimal" for me, so I am going to need to increase my reach from the stock setup.

Ok, so the reach won't be as aggressive as a quill, but I need more than "typical" road frames to get lower.

I am currently leaning towards the Thomson elite in silver, or the Cinnelli Gamma Ti.

get a thomson. you can get them up to 130mm reach i think. and you should have plenty of drop with drop bars.

The Deda Pista Newton has a nice drop. The thing is pretty expensive, but they come up on eBay once in a great while for a half decent price.
