Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

i had to take a month off after this incident and it was miserable, especially since it was during prime riding season and the month of no work i had been looking forward to all year. i found various other ways to be near my bike though, such as dremmeling off unwanted braze-ons and cleaning/lubing it up.

For those who have healthy legs, turn your TV time into leg strengthening time.

Now crouch .... stand up .... crouch .... stand up.

Then do some "good mornings" for your hamstrings. Same ... and you can even mix it up doing one crouch and one good morning. Repeat slowly and painfully. Aerobic resistance will not be improved, but your muscles will be like carved in wood.

Repeat 500 times. Your quads will be stronger than strong in a month.

i like shants' idea....i think the obvious course of action is to mope about and drink ungodly amounts of beer....and or throw the ride into a trainer to work off all the carbs from the beer.... I feel for you man....getting ****ed up sucks, I broke my leg in august...but luckily(stupidly as well) i figured if I can walk on it why cant i ride on it...so i screwed a spd cleat into the bootie they gave me and away i went....Good luck and speedy recovery
