I really don't like falling on it, but until someone comes up with an equally effective alternate method of carrying it, around the waist it goes. Sucks slung over the shoulder, impractical inside your bag, etc.

wrapping around seatpost--but that could take a while. or the ever-so-fashionable front basket?

That looks deep, dude. One more pic on this thread and I'm gonna start a "scars and bruises" thread.

There's already one somewhere in the archives. Probably worth a bump to the top.

what about locking to cross walk sign/street lamp thing? i think i was late once and there was nothing around so i tried locking to a telephone pole. i can't remember whether or not it worked. but if it didn't, i was probably thinking something like "damn, i wish this chain was two links longer" or maybe "once again, this heavy piece of **** slows me down" or "f-ck this mother f-cking chain is too short".

if for some reason it did work, i probably thought something like "nice, i just made it." and then i probably thought " ****, the mother f-cking key that you have to insert into the lock to lock the friggin lock, is in my bag instead of on my hip. why the frig do i need a key to lock? maybe it's because kryptonite or art or whatever wants me to realize how annoying locking a lock with a key is, just to get it to hang on the end of your chain as you ride. and as a result of that annoyance, they want me to attempt to get the lock stuck through a link far enough, so that it doesn't fall out. and then as a result of that, lose the lock after avoiding the potholes that help make the area a slum (which is the reason i have to have an absurd lock like this). mother f-cking paradoxical mother s-hit f-uckers. now i am going to have to drop the chain through the frame to the ground, watch it bash the steel tubing and cringe as a few 'bro-dudes' turn and look and scoff as they smoke parliament lights and talk about hair gel and jersey city. " so then if i was able to lock it i probably thought "oh great, these dudes are gonna say some obnoxious **** as i walk by" and then of course they would say "think anyone will steal it?!?!" as they chuckle at their group effort at comedic mediocrity. and then, clearly, i would just look at them, smile, and in my thickest jersey/long island/sterotypical soprano/mafia accent i would say "nahhhhh, faaahhhghettaaabout'it" and then walk away in confidence.

I found the new krypto chains cannot be shortened by locking through interior links. The links are smaller or the shackle is now fatter, as the lock only fits in through the chain ends.

Consequently it kept slipping off my skinny frame. Took me ages to work out how to wear it as a belt, as I thought I was missing something.

My solution was first to use an old toe strap to provide a 'link' where I needed it. Now, I use a fat key ring hoop, which is working great.

Definitely much more comfy wearing the Krypto as a belt than over your shoulder or around your neck.
I have yet to hear anyone mention the "New York Noose".

With the noose you can "choke up" the chain to make it shorter, to fit around your waist. I have the 5 foot New York Noose, which Kryptonite doesn't seem to be offering anymore, I don't wear it around my waist. It's too uncomfortable, with the heavy metal chain digging into my waist. But I used to wrap it around my body, kind of like a messenger bag, and use the noose to choke up the chain to obtain a comfortable fit.

How can a chain not compatible with a bicycle?? Are you referring to it not being able to be mounted on a bicycle frame, due to it's length?

i rock a krypto knock-off, "tuff stuff" chain around my waist and haven't had major problems yet. i used to do the around-the-shoulder/chest thing, but it's way more annoying when it's warm outside.

Or just a freakin' giant.

6'6", 240 pounds. I'd be pushing the limit trying to sling it around my waist.
