my votes for best sandwiches in brooklyn are as follows... el paraiso restaurant (myrtle & adlephi) / pedro's special sandwich (steak & chorizo chopped and fried in 2 scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, mayo, mexican sour cream, pickled carrots and jalapenos, refried beans, on a hero. massive...will put you back in bed. $5.) Farmer in the Deli (myrtle & the next street up from adlephi) / a mighty fine deli sandwich. tons of everything for $4 and under. Ba Xuyen (sunset park) / sandwiches 1-5 http://www.villagevoice.com/nyclife/...,46344,15.html |

Right now I'm eating a Vorgie from the Bremen Cafe - my usual lunch at work.
Red pepper pesto, tomato, onion, bell peppers, sprouts, provelone, and feta on a nice soft roll with balsamic vinegar. Very good. |

I want to eat a torta al pastor right now.
This thread should be a sticky! |
1. Genies here in portland has a reuben. House cured naturally raised corned beef. Homemade sauerkraut. Yo. The. Bomb. Provided much sustenance while tugging home a 150 lb dehumidifier on my bike trailer.
2. Pastaworks "new" panini, enjoyed saturday, was on one of those spongy yummy square rolls, and consisted of white bean spread, grilled zucchini, arugula, hot pepper flakes...gosh...was there cheese? if not, maybe it was vegan. Anyway, it was spectacular. 3. La Torta Loca -- this is in Oakland, on international ave in Fruitvale -- has the best tortas in the bay area. Almost makes me want to eat factory farmed pork. The best is the pambazo, a torta that is stuffed with a thick stew, then soaked in chili sauce and then the whole sandwich is seared on the plancha. Madre de Dios. I won't eat em any more, but I won't ever forget them, either. |

ok i'm ****ed if i'm gonna read through four pages of this, so i don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but my vote goes to the burger joint (that's it's name) on the corner of bleecker and macdougal. burgers are $1, cheeseburgers are $1.25 and they're 2oz of good-ass meat in a good-ass bun with onions. small but you go multiple, dig? i 86 the onions and pay extra quarter per for pickles.
