Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Where can Suntour Superbe Pro's be purchased online? How much do they usually run?

they're not made anymore, and are currently really fashionable. if you can find a set on ebay expect to pay $200 and up depending on length (shorter== more expensive) and condition. there hasn't been a set on ebay for a couple of months iirc.

I presently ride with SuginoRD 130mm BCD crankarms.
Because of this, I have a basket full of 130mm BCD chainrings, including several Biopace chainrings, which I love.

John Dace at Businesscycles has Stronglight track cranks with 130mm BCD spacing.

https://www.businesscycles.com/tcr-stronglight.htm

They weigh 75 grams less than my SuginoRD's and cost $117 for the crankarms only.

I may be talking outta my ass, but ISIS, octalink 2, the new DA/Ultegra/105 w. the integrated spindle are probably better technology (i.e. lighter, stiffer, more durable) than ANY square taper crank.

Still too new to be 100%, but keirin racers and fixed dudes are the only ones who haven't gone over to the other side.

Kinda like aheadset, square taper gets by on style. That said, lots of cranks are sweet. C-record are just the prettiest. And I don't think crank stiffness makes much of a difference unless you're a clydesdale.

if the cranks are going to be for a nagasawa, go with the dura ace 7600.
square taper, njs, japanese.

I went with the Dura Ace crankset--they'll match up well with the hubs. Threw the wallet on the table already. As classy as they are, I'm not worthy of the Sugino Grand Mightys. Can't wait to get this bike going...

Grand Mightys are not so good, I would have to say the Campy are far superior.

Bikes: A couple customs and some beaters.

So, does anyone have a serious study of track crank stiffness for all of the currently produced and no longer produced sets? I tried searching under multiple terms for such a study, but it doesn't appear to exist online. I'm quietly considering a set of Grand Mighty cranks, but I want to know exactly how much stiffer they are than 75s...
