Yea. I didn't ride my bike for a month before the race because the damn bike was in the paint shop. + I needed to take it easy because of my knee..
It still was a lot of fun.
So Coffee tomorrow?

i had 2 rear flats when i was there, and my rear went flat again in the cargo bin of the fung wah bus. upon closer inspection with a flashlight, there are glass splinters embedded pretty much around the entire tire. i think it was the ride up the street behind rockstar bar that did my tires in. it was blanketed in broken glass. this evening my front tube randomly exploded - it sounded like a gun shot and scared the crap out of me.
i met a lot of people with flats at rockstar.

I think I rode with you on the bridge (huge orange chrome bag), right after my leg stopped being all cramped and **** and I could move it again, you crashed right infront of me at King Kog, the other people were helping you out already. But I got like 96th so maybe 2 people crashed and dislocated their shoulder?

That was a pretty dope time. 5 mile sprint down 5th Avenue with 150 other bikers? Awesome. I've never seen so many crashes in an alleycat before. I've also never seen so many photographers & videographers stationed all along the racecourse. Who ARE these people, and what ever happens to this footage? I never see any of it!!!!
My favorite part was when I shoulder-checked that bus around 68th St. The piece of **** was in my way, so I tried to forcefully nudge it a bit with my body. Oddly enough, it didn't budge and completely tossed me off my bike amidst a dozen racers right behind me who I didn't know were there until they started shouting "oh ****! Oh ****! Get up! You all right? Get up, Ken! Go! Go!". Undaunted, I hopped right back on & kept going, painfully. Fortunately, Monkey lent me his helmetcam to take some footage, so there's a great angle of me smashing into the back of the bus. (torrent that ****, man!!! I caught at least three crashes on film).
My other favorite part was riding through chinatown, yelling at people to get out of the way, and feeling the hand of someone behind me pushing me along cuz he had to stop short to keep from crashing into me.
I came in 24th. Felt like I should've done better, but that freakin' run down the hill & the frantic start took enough out of me right away to make it difficult later on.
I made it up by rocking the **** out of Goldsprints!!!!!

s_9 ruled the goldsprints with WithNails a very close .2 seconds behind.
I had flats too, but that's not my excuse, I just suck and need to get in shape.
How's aeser's ankle? glad you guys made it back in relatively good shape.

yea i got either a spranged ankle or it's possible i may have torn ligaments in my left foot. the doctor i saw couldn't tell so i have an ortho appointment tomorrow morning. all from being a drunk dumbass and (i guess) trying to do a trackstand at an intersection (i have no recolection of the event) on the way to wangsters place after the afterparty. didn't even make it to the ****ing race cos we had to eat (hadn't eaten in like over 24 hours) and the closest place we knew about that we could eat at didn't open till noon and was in williamsburg, so ate quick and booked it over to the subway at houston and varick by 1:40, and the 2 and 3 trains that would have brought us pretty close to the park wern't running on weekends. so realizing there's no ****in way we're gonna make it to the race start we said **** it and just went to rockstar bar after putzing around for a bit. i appologise to everyone who saw me saturday night as the obnoxious drunk, i was in destructo mode after not making it to the race. it was cool as **** to meet all of you, you were all cool as hell. but looking around it appeared as though everyone from boston was just having crap luck, withnail wrecked his rim and had to buy a new wheel (and raced with a cold) though he kicked ass at goldsprints. oh well, better luck next time.

103rd place! But hey I'll take it. I got pretty banged up Thurs. night while out working during the rain/ snow/ sleet storm. Stayed and worked a couple hours of over time since a lot of the other messengers left early. And right before I called it quits I hit a patch of ice and rolled in front of a cab. Of course you try to help out a little and something bad happens. Long story short, woke up Fri. barely able to walk, iced my leg all day, and Sat. rode the race. Not trying to make excuses, just saying that I have been waiting for this race and I am really happy that despite my injuries I raced and actually finished.

fun weekend! i shot tons of super-8 film. i have to take it to the lab this week and get it processed, figure out what to transfer to vid and share it. it'll take me a couple of weeks, but i think there's some good stuff--especially from the king kog thing yesterday (since the crappy hubs on the brakeless beater i was riding in mostertrack stripped and my lockring cracked--cutting my monstertrack race filming short).
