Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

the BB is probably english threaded. I imagine it would specify if it was italian. Miche makes both versions.

The thing is, I was looking forward to having same-brand cranks/BB/hub for that perfect chainline ive never been able to enjoy on my conversion. What should my concern be about the hub seals? (and ill certainly get an 18 tooth cog for about $20 to achieve the same gearing I have now.)

I don't think you can use IRO BBs on Miche cranks. Different tapers, I believe. JIS vs. ISO, I think.

Keep in mind that Campy uses the same taper as Miche.

See, this is exactly why I refuse to buy non-used / garbage parts. I would be buying $300 worth of extra parts to make my $300 group work, strip my BB shell during installation, and then get the entire bike stolen later in the week. Sigh.

The groupo is a weird setup. You get the older hubs, but the newer cranks. Strange. But yeah, it's probably english threaded, that's definitely the norm.

As for the seals on the Miche BB, they're not bad. They're more of a "throw away" BB, anyway. not that expensive, no maintence.

my favorite thing about them is the "fixed cup" isn't fixed at all, there's no lip. this means you can move the whole BB to the left or right of center to achieve a perfect chainline, it's a huge advantage. don't get crazy, though. you don't want many exposed threads. Also, make sure that you're tightening it to spec, since there's no fixed cup, it can be a little tricky. I flew through installation the first time and a week later ended up with a loose BB at an alleycat, not a fun situation.

Miche = good stuff.

before i ordered i asked chuck about the bottom bracket. He said if you needed an italian he would provide one to you. I am not sure it would be a miche but you should call him to get the details

^ so unless otherwise requested, the BB included is english threaded...
Is the crankset included the "miche primato pista" crankset?
