Bikes: highly modified specialized crossroads and GT hybrid (really a [formerly] 12-speed bmx cruiser, made before 'hybrid' took on its current meaning), as yet unmodified redline 925, couple of other projects

I'd just like to get the logic behind creating a christian (or any other religion) bike shop.. its not like bike parts for christians were unavailable beforehand... I can understand a jewish bakery or something as it has a specialized product, but what did rivendell offer that was actually supplemented by their religious background?

He could have baked the most delicious chocolate cake. He could have scored more goals than Wayn Gretsky. That's so cool.

The USA doesn't run the world- it's this kind of "(christian) man was given dominion over the earth" mass-solipsism that really bugs me about the fact that christians run the country at the moment. The world runs itself, and typically runs itself better where our nose isn't sticking into people's business.
Christianity, at its core, really is a quite nice idea (though bogged down by age-old mythic detritus) that preaches a path to peace and love, and that I can tip my metaphysical hat to. It is a collossal shame that it has been seized by and large by evil people that see it as a great fascia for a worse-than-the-masons secret society- a back-scratching, fake-smiling interlocked system of fiends who wield fear like a schoolmarm's switch and are no more faithful than the most committed atheist, IMHO.
Much like communism is a pretty solid set of ideas and socialism was a poorly-executed, ultimately selfish try at it, so goes christianity and its current ruling class's swipe at making it their tool for social terraforming and massive profit. Shame on them.
As an aside, any religion whose holy text has little-to-no connection to its original, god-inspired first draft due to some king's insane whim is gonna have a hard time impressing me.
Erk, sorry, didn't mean to get so crazy on this.

there are though, i think, some american politicians who truly believe in jesus and christian tenets in (what is in my opinion) the "proper" way--i'd say jimmy carter for instance. i really don't think he is just "paying lip service to the bulk of [his] demographic." (i don't know if he rides fixed or not.)
anyway, interesting points all.

You should also know that I love you. But my love is conditional. It requires Sparks, pie, and the acknowledgement that Nexus hubs rock.

I sprained my wrist two weeks ago, and then I went on a long bike ride with all my weight on the other arm. Now my elbow hurts. Man, I should probably heat up some lunch pretty soon if I'm going to get to work on time tonight. It's been nice talking to you guys. All right. All right, later.

So the answer to your question is a qualified "no." If the person who manufactures my messenger bag chooses to harbor ill thoughts about the Unicorn of Pinkness, that's his problem and it's really none of my concern. But if he deliberately links his bag business, publicly, with nasty anti-Unicorn sentiment, then my attitude towards him changes. Does that make sense?
