Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey this is Chip's roomate. If anyone who is coming has a spare strap for a toeclip, could you please bring it? Chip split his on the way to where you're going, likely in the course of doing something ********.

Didn't find a strap, but the ride was fun. I almost had to fight some dude by the art museum because I tapped on his window to warn him about an upcoming virtually invisible chain stretched across a parking lot entrance. How was I supposed to know that he was looking for somewhere to be alone with his hooker? We got 29 mph on the fast bit (aka the parkway). We could have done better. Maoz ran out of pita (?!?) so we went to some falafel joint at 2 and Chestnut. Some liked their falafel, some didn't. I would give it a solid meh. Next week is on for sure.

And I split my strap skidding. I have no luck with clips/straps. Maybe it's eggbeater time.

Hey all,
I'm an infrequent participant in the Philly fixie scene (except the 'cats) who now has a job more convenient to late night jaunts such as this one. Great idea, by the way. Hope to see you all Monday, Thursday and any other two wheeled time. Hallelujah, my lameness is coming to an end! Insert smarmy comments here...

sweet that this is gaining interest. one thing about next week though guys, we should stick together (to minimize bellingerent john run-ins) and nix the chit-chat stops so that we can get to maoz before they run out of pita. i'm not trying to wait 20 minutes for an overpriced falafel at jabakabob again.

True. Doing that little climb isn't worth it with those pylons there anyway.

I don't think I've ever even seen a pair of bullhorns that wide (not counting homemade bullhorns).

Does that mean "yes" or "no?" I realize most Philly people use it to mean "no," but if you think about it, "it's okay" is ambiguous because it's not clear to what "it" refers. Is "it's okay" a Philly/PA/Northeast/East Coast thing? Some times when I use "it's okay" out-of-state people just look at me all confused.
