I think I remember reading this too. Basically, for any UCI or World Cup qualifying events, you need a UCI-legal bike.

As for the curved seat tube + short stays, what constitutes short stays? I've got a pursuit bike with a curved seat tube, and I don't feel like the q-factor is very high (then again, my cranks have a very low q-factor, so maybe it compensates).

What about q-factor? What's a "usual" measurement these days?

P.S. That was me, not Juvi-Kyle that shook your hand at NAHBS.

probably a stupid question but:

why not use a 650c wheel and curved stays to get it [even] shorter?

Bikes: 2003 Fuji Track Bike,Pink Univega, Mixed part BMX, Early 70's Columbia Tandem, Orange and Cream Fixed gear Pursuit bike (Puig), random bikes made from spare parts

These bikes are fun!

What is it about pursuit frames that everyone just wants to paint them orange?

Presenting, the Creamsicle

I have since replaced the fork with a carbon fork which allowed me to lower the stem.

KHS stopped making there aero track pursuit frames cause they are pointless for the mainstream market.

I have been riding mine for a few years now and have one main point to share. Everything that makes a track bike fun on the street is the opposite of these frames. They are tight, well over and frankly so tight as to be twitchy.

they do however look cool.

If you are riding on the track or for bling its good. Otherwise they will create a love-hate loop.
I finally discovered a good bar-stem combo and decided to keep mine, but beforehand...

Oh, don't run a brake or it will just be a crash machine. You are already half over as it is.

I used to crash once every three years. When I ran the brake I crashed three times a week.

Oh, my combo is...slight rise riser bars and flat nitto stem.

Having commuted daily (30mi a day, at the least) on a super twitchy pursuit bike with brakes for a number of years, I disagree completely.

It's all about how you ride it.

yup, it's twitchy. the wheelbase seems really short.
and yeah, if you're going to use a brake shift your weight back a little, no crashes.
this is my latest setup, i've only had it for about 3 weeks, and i've grown to love it.
i had 2 'beaters', a pista and this, i had to sell one and chose to sell the pista.
this bike is too fun.

Thanks Don. You're right, it's not a true pursuit frame.
earlier in the thread there was talk and pics of KHS frames with the sloping top tube, so i threw this in.

sorryman, but i disagree as well. honestly, i wouldnt ride this sh1t without a brake. i do agree with the love/hate part though. but then again, i have that feelling with every bike i own.

heres mine i finally settle component-wise with the bike. i bought a new stem on thursday and its made the bike a sh1t-load easier to ride.

ta-da...

That bike = HOT, but you should totally paint that fork white... or that nifty bluish near the clusters

I'm sorry, but i think that bike looked much nicer with the C-record group it came with. Minus the aero water bottle, that is. Those things sucked.

Bikes: allez fuji tracku nishiki TT GT KHS arrow Miner 29'er CIOCC Corsair and now a f*cking awesome waterford skeet velo

the bulletproof cranks? I've seen 165's & 170's, and you're stuck with the 110 BCD too.

[edit: as mentioned earlier, ditched the old hardware for a pair of DA's and an FSA ring:]

rides a lot smoother! (I had worn that other sh*t out but good).
