It seems like the Cannondale Track from a few years ago with a slacker head ( off by a degree) and seattube angle( off by a few degrees) , downgraded specs ( dura ace to coda, cxp23 to "mach1, whatever that is) and a set of piss poor brakes. I really like the color though. I think I am going to have to stop by my LBS for more info. It looks like it needs a set of deep dish rims.

Mach1 is a French rim and spoke maker. Not too bad at all. CFX's are 460g and tough as nails. Mavic still sounds better, of course.

Ooops, the site says it has 510 rims. That's a 18mm wide hybrid rim. Dunno what they were thinking...

I generally like Cannondale Track bikes, and I generally like the entry level Single speeds. like IRO Mark V, Raleigh Rush Hour, and yes even the Pista. I dislike the Langster, but I seem to have an inexplicable aversion to anything Specialized. I know they make some nice bikes, but I just don't like them. On the other hand I usually like Cannondale stuff, especially their track bikes, but this thing leaves me feeling luke warm. I'm not sure why, but I think it has to do with the "fashion" aspect. Most Cannondale stuff to me seems purposeful, with aesthetic considerations coming clearly after the functional design elements. In general I like the idea of down-specing their track bike for affordability, and making it a bit more streetable design. I can't realy seperate my emotional response from my practical one, but I think if they would lose the "edgey urban" pretense, and the Mafia reference, I think I would really like this bike. I just couldn't get over the idea that I would feel silly riding around rural Vermont with a Graffitied bike that thinks it's a crime boss.

edit: I thought it over, and I realized my aversion to this bike is really quite simple. I hate the name. Some people would never want toride a Motobecane Messenger because they would feel like a total possenger on it. This is worse, I'd feel like a Posfiosso. I'd much rather be a possenger than a Posfiosso. I actually admire messengers and the work they do, but I don't really feel that way about Mafioso's.

I noticed that too. But it comes with a 700c tire, so I figured that the 510 doesn't mean anything, or means something else.

Saw a black one in person today, an will report a bit on my findings. First and best of all, the cablestops are not brazed on and are instead plastic temporary and easily removable housings. The logo is a very dark shade of gray, far darker then it appears on the site, and from about 10, mybe even in as little as 5 feet away, the frame looks...logoless. Definetly a clean looking track machine. I'll try to get some pics of it up tommorow.

HAHA, this is hilarious. The C-dale and Spez reps were nagging us about the capo and the new Langster for months. When C-dale claims they've been digging to "the root of fixed gear and messenger culture", it really means they've been talking to nerds like ME .
The "NYC influence" i suppose is evident in the Capo. The new langster is going to be more like a road bike now with a carbon fiber front fork and a more traditional paintjob (orange/coffee/brown), but it now comes with a fixed cog. It's being marketed more as an off season training tool for roadies. They are, however, designing a NYC edition langster with a flatbar and cross levers. The rep pow-wowed at our shop for some input- i told him to include a frame sticker of a "G".

Oh, and early release 2007 is a mixed bag of high end 2006 stuff they didn't sell, and early versions of kiddie and low/mid range bikes to test the waters before interbike.
C-dale rep brougt in an early release system seven. I'm not a big C-dale fan, but holy schneikies that's a light bike (even with Ksyrium ES clinchers).

So they really did to talk to some real messengers........

Ah, so they weren't infact talking to messengers, now i understand.

We have a couple of these at my shop. At first glance, the rear hub looks like a dual freewheel. I haven't really checked to see if they installed the freewheel on the fixed side, but it doesn't look that way. Doesn't make sense considering the marketing we've seen. On top of that, the rear brake is clearly meant to be cleanly removed, with the cable housing essentially zip-tied to the the frame as mentioned before. Maybe it's all just a quirk of assembly.

Other than that, it looks like a neat bike...nothing interesting about the spec, but I like the subdued look of the frame.

i like c'dales, ride one myself, but man, if they were gonna put graf on it, they at least could've avoided that generic ubiquitous internet graf font... where the real writers at?!?!

They have been around here and there for years. They were a sponsor at CMWC in DC a few years back. I spent some time with one of their reps, nice guy. He got me a replacement for a Cannondale I'd broken after my lbs refused me because I'd stripped off the paint.

Nice frame welds. I remember why I used to like Cannondales.

I was talking to some guy about it, and he was suprised it was aluminum, and not a cf frame, just because it was "that" smooth.

in the shop i where i work, there are a few cannondale track bikes up in the wherehouse. they, however, have a red white and blue color scheme, and have sugino 75's. they are relatively nice, and i bet they are at about 18 lbs.

i still hate cannondale. one word: lefty

Can anyone confirm else confirm the dual-freewheel hub?
