holy crap! that's quite an undertaking for a print! its really impressive. how did you come up with the concept? what/who is it for?
one of my roommates is a printmaking major and after seeing this i just want to tell her to drop out.

good ****. def. post up your finished product, i'm kinda psyched to see it printed with all the detail.
i was really into lino/wood cuts for a while. but doing them at home with no press isn't the same.
i should take the class again.

Yeah, I've been stuck between that and photography. GDES makes a lot more sense, and I don't get bored of it like I do photography.
Is it really that difficult to get into? I know a lot of it is to scare freshman into doing their work.

It's alot easier to get into then Photo, which only accepts something like 15-20 students.
If you're interested in photography there's a million+ opportunities to apply that to your projects in design, obviously..
It can be alot of work, but if you're into it and on top of your **** it's no problem.
If you just wanna **** around in photoshop and illustrator though, then there's no point...

People like that piss me off. I took the GDES project class this (well, now last) semester, and we did a project arranging four 2x8" strips of black paper on a 10x10" white square. So many kids pitched a ****ing fit about it, asking "Why aren't we using photoshop" etc. About 95% of the class thought Graphic Design was all about making t-shirts.

it kind of started out of nowhere. i had been wanting to do a print of that size for a while now, but couldnt get the energy together to get started. finally before i knew it i had a month left in the semester and had to do something, so i went for it.
the idea stemmed from me at first wanting to recreate myself as shiva, vishnu, and brahma. so after some tinkering in photoshop i came up with that image. after thinking about a border, i had to be careful because depending on what type i used it could be said that i was implying something completely unintentional (ie. if i used a victorian border, would i be saying something about the colonization of india etc.)
this was for my relief printing class. it kind of got me addicted to woodcutting and next semester im going to be working on more prints of this size. maybe following the same idea of human/animal hybrids.
who knows.

VERY cool shots, wolfbrother!
not to sound rude but....
that looks like a solid 20 minutes worth of work. what in the world could possibly take 2 years to do on that? and why would you waste 20 minutes (much less 2 years) to make an ugly image of some ugly ricer car?

that takes longer than 20 minutes.
this took 20 minutes.

so, a little more than 20 minutes. its pretty clean linework, though, even if its just tracing and rendering an image.
