Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? That's a great older frame. Not many of them were made, but they were done here in Carlsbad by Ted Kirkbride and the crew. He made some incredible stuff. I'm thrilled I get to talk to him from time to time.

This link has a bigger picture of the bike. It rocks. You'll love it. I promise... for what that's worth.

Thanks again for the support (those of you supporting...)

Tim
Kool.

Thanks for the photo.

I don't grok CX bikes, but I'm sure it's very nice.

Now let me put you on the Kogswell SEAT of HEAT: how is the CXR different from other bikes in its class?

Folks,
Some of you have too much attitude, the ancients suspected spleen and recommended bleeding, or perhaps purging your excess phleghm.

Try it.

Hey kids, if you knew everything about bikes, perhaps it wouldn't suprise you that Masi is long dead. As are all of the old bike companies (Raleigh, schwinn, etc).

It is one thing to be an ignorant jackass, but when you are rude to other members of the community you are just being an *******.

Well... because it's better? It's a Masi? I like it more?

Ok, ok, ok... that won't work. It's built around a racing geometry designed specifically for cross. It has a higher BB and geometries that are designed for quick, stable handling in the dirt. The feel is kind of like a road racing/ crit bike that handles really well in the dirt- if that makes sense. Plus, the frame has top tube cable routing (pretty standard for serious cross bikes) and nice little features to help it do its job; integrated cable tension adjusters for the rear brake and front derailleur cables and a cam/ pulley for the front derailleur cable so that it runs smoother. It's little touches, and admittedly a few other folks use them too, but we use them on a bike that sells for a pretty decent price. And, since you can get it as a frame, you can build it up the exact way you want too. Overall, it's just a great frame that has a great parts spec for the price.

I've got a small demo fleet of the bikes that I will be rolling around. Stay tuned for how you can test ride one of the bikes... how's that for an answer?

the only issue I'd have with the bike in the first post is the frame color making it look like a Motobecane

Well, as it happens, the bike is selling so well, that we just might have to do a second color so that the market is swamped with too many bikes in the same color.

You just never know...

Oh, heavens yes! Great job Kogswell...PM me, I have a small reserve of leeches that I will gladly loan with gleeful enthusiasm.

Tim -keep at it, good man. If you will offer a second colourway, consider the old powder blue.

I spell it colour too. But I realise that working for a British company for three years has changed me.

Thanks for the support folks- it should go without saying that I really appreciate it, but I'll just go ahead and say that I really do appreciate it.

The bike will be in shops late November and will sell for about $700-ish (depending on retailer, blah, blah, blah...)

I have another cool color option in mind as well (though I love that old "cyan" blue); antique white with a nice dark green panel graphic. The first computer versions looked really sweet!

As we say in England when an American comments on "that cute accent":

"I don't have an accent. This is how English is supposed to be spoken."

Back on topic, I quite like the orange bike, despite the no lugs and the aheadset. Does it remind anybody else of the General Lee? Also, Tim, as Don Walker, Sacha White and Tony IRO have found out, coming here once in a while makes you a human rather than a brand, and will do wonders for your rep amongst at least this community.

That would either be a vintage frame (most likely) or a new/ newer frame from Alberto Masi (Faliero's son) in Milan.

A more stable, less twitchy, ride for the hipster wanna-be. It's not a track bike, it's a road fixie.

Do it in white. Do it in powder blue. Add some sparkles or something. Just don't make is crayon orange, yellow, red or black.

I think the AL frame looks fine.
