Centurions are a mixed bag. Some were super crappy and there were a couple of nice ones. W/o knowing, $50 is okay but not great. I've seen Centurion Ironman framesets for around $50 on CL from time to time. That was their highend model.

He tried it out at 275$USD last week but got no bidders. A starting bid of 200$USD isn't bad if it really is a Simonetti, but yeah, if he just could borrow a friends digital camera to get a couple of decent snaps he could really make some money on it.

hockeyteeth 01-01-07 02:25 PM

I would never bid on it - Member since only Dec. 17th and no feedback?! For all we know that picture is currently circulating through the Nigerian internet cafes. Hell, it might even be a picture he snapped from his computer screen.

Is there a way to tell them apart? Do you know how or is there a link you could direct me to that could help?

That frame you posted seems like a decent frame- Mid level- not crap, but then again not anything fancy. It has forged dropouts and probably a decent tubeset.

I'd say it's a decent deal for $50- although the lack of parts- (no seatpost or bb) Will push the cost up a bit farther.

that's a tough one. it has forged dropouts from what i can tell, which is a good sign. but the lugs are super basic, wich tends to be a halmark of lower end models.
i'd go see it. pick it up and feel the weight, inspect it closer, then offer the dude what you think it's worth.
btw the geometry looks pretty slack. great if you want to run big tires and fenders, bad if you want something tracky-looking (not that there's anything wrong with that). just something to ponder.

carbon Bridgestone with race history apparently.

I hope none of the bidders really think this is a set of track handlebars.

there was a very old bike book at the thrift store this weekend, and it had a page showing various bar styles. the bar style labeled "pista" looked more like the above, whereas the ones we generally think of as being pista bars (ie: nitto b123) were labeled something else... started with an "M". anyone know what and why? i'm curious.

If I ever decide to sell an 1800 dollar carbon track bike, I'm not putting up drive-side photos either.

It also appears to be simutaneously a road and a track bike.

br995 01-02-07 03:48 PM

1) Why does that Bridgestone have a Mickey Mouse decal on it?
2) I don't like it when fox gear conversions are called "track bikes."

Did anyone here score that sweet Bob Jackson?

It was raced by a young girl.

It is actually a $4,800.00 not a $1,800.00 bike. That's just the opening bid.

I love non-drive side photosets at auction...it keeps the bids cold.

Not that it matters anyway, as only the frame is for sale. OMG WUTZ HER RATIOOO?

They are so close you wouldn't know the difference sometimes. 38 and 40 models especially.

They are good for both Crits and track. Those were the good ones before the grooves for aero cable.

If you're too dumb to notice the grooves and don't know what they're for, you deserve to be duped.
