"Like trucker hats and PBR, what started as a bike messenger thing has become a fashion statement and status symbol. You've got kids in the Mission with the left leg of their jeans rolled up, a little biker hat on crooked, slip-on Vans, and a brand-new fixed-gear Bianchi; and they don't know their ass from a light socket. Cadence? You may as well be talking astrophysics."

Umm... Yeah.

Who says BMX kids live long, fulfilling lives? There wasn't an oldie among 'em at Interbike! A bunch of twits right around my age (21) trying to scream their brands' merits amongst a sea of lock-step, cloned comrades. There isn't that much innovation in the sport, so what's left to say other than, "My feigned disinterest is more relevant than yours!" Oh wait, does this sound familiar?

killsurfcity 01-09-07 08:06 PM

i have no idea what you're talking about, but i agree.

i was quoting the dude selling the shirt in an apparently failed attempt to loft myself up over his shoulders, :D but whatever... (cue mario falling in a hole sound)

Ok, people who shop on eBay are officially illogical. So I just sold a tubular C-Record wheelset with $100 tires attached for ~$260 less than just the HUBS went for a week prior. And the hub auction wasn't a result of bidder frenzy as it was the buy-it-now. Ay yi yi!

Apparently NOS is worth much, much more than 20 track miles.

I don't know where you've been, but BMX has gone off the hook these past few years.

that phrase went "off the hook" two years ago.

DerekRI 01-09-07 10:25 PM

Oh snap, harsh dude. Guess I'm not as hip as you, buddy. I guess I should say "bmx is teh jamz now". Better?

killsurfcity 01-09-07 11:12 PM

yeah, i do see a lot more kids riding. i should have said until it shows up in fashion spreads.

Haha, no hard feelings. I can't resist a crack on a cliche/phrase sometimes.

that's funny, I was going to bid on your set, but didn't because I saw what the nos hubs went for and just thought yours would go for way more....you're right, ebay is strange
