Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Look at the headtube on the GT for more evidence that it's a pursuit bike. It's all about the geometry.

Bikes: IRO Angus 53, Marinoni Special 54, LMNO Custom Road Bike, Guerciotti TT, Late 60s Bottechia Road, Univega Via Montega beater/polo/rain bike.

A possible new addition to my stable:

Might be trading the kid holding the bike a frame/fork for his frame/fork.
And I think I'll probably build it with gears.

TT bikes are a pain in the ASS---literally---with gears. The reach to the brake levers is painful. That's why time trials are referred to as more enduring pain than anything.

Fixed, they are much more sensible, since you can use risers and don't need that absurd reach.

ha, i thought the same thing, but riding on the shoulders actually somewhat simulated riding bullhorns, which is how i would set it up anyways.

Well maybe I will convert it if I feel like this is true, but it will be built with gears first.

A wise man once said, "The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy."

The first morman temple is in Kirtland, Ohio. The house where Joseph Smith slept is still standing. It is now owned by the church ( not the LDS Mormons, the other major group, but not the polygamy group). Before it was owned by the church, it was a bar that my grandmother used to get hammed at, and where my uncle met his wife. I like to tell the missionaries on bikes that story. I also like to invite them in if they will have a beer with me.
