Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

This is exactly the point being made by the Doctors you brand as BSer's

Then why do you say that not biking is the answer? (see above)

According to Schrader, only 5% of male cyclists may be affected. Absence of reportage from racers is not proof of anything. Bear in mind that "major problem" and "epidemic" are overstatements that you brought to the discussion. It is not characterized as such by the researchers.

Because it is. No amount of uninformed naysaying will change the bare fact that some cases of E.D. are caused by riding a bike.

I made my response because the OP asked for some information on a subject that I am familiar with. To wit: "where's some real info?". My intention was to answer the question he asked and nothing more.

I call bull***** on most of the "research" out there--- there is usually some sort of marketing attached to it.
I think you need to be careful about calling FUD on 'most' research. Maybe I'm biased because I work directly with researchers, but there's a lot of work done outside of bike companies. If you're going to refute published science, I think it should be done scientifically, on a case-by-case basis, by evaluating the study's merits on it's own... sample size, methodology, measurement, duration, etc.

yeah, i was asking cuz i'm paranoid since messengering...more hours in the saddle, you know? and every now and then, you get....you know...whiskey ****. i got paranoid after that happened a couple of times, but i think alcoholic consumption may be something to look at as well. reducing that. plus, i've recently changed my diet. i'm not vegan, but 99% of my meals are now vegan, i may as well say i'm vegan, but i want to leave the option open...sometimes i like meat and/or cheese. definitely cheese.

I would imagine that 5% is probably well below the national average, so wouldn't the implication mean that biking is a good way to prevent ED?

I'd be good if I didn't have to worry about riding with one now and then.

Wait, wait, wait. I didn't say that.

Get this book: The Multi-Orgasmic Man. By Mantak Chia.

It is a book on Taoist Chi-Kung. It teaches you how to have non-ejaculatory orgasms.

I'm dead serious guys! STOP LAUGHING!! This is true!!!

It also brings blood to "the area", constantly replenishing and replacing the oxygen to nourish the cells.

I know about this not because I have it, but because I Teach Martial Arts and I helped a friend overcome this problem(E.D.).

Even if there's a physical/dietary/medical trigger with ED, I would imagine a large part, huge part of it, is psychological. If you got whiskeydick once, I would imagine that would cause you anxiety the next time, probably exacerbating the issue.

Before you show me statistics, take out the Lance Armstrong wannabes who only want to know what the saddle weighs, and who take pain and numbness as proof of commitment.

I disagree. The only problem is the residual afterwords. I have never used a tub since.

Alot of companies have monitoring software on their networks that flag porn and scan for certain "keywords" that can be considered inappropriate.

That leads to them discovering his BFSSFG activity. They have policies, etc.

humancongereel: take this anecdotal story into consideration.
My mother works in the womans health department in a hospital, and all the time she has middle aged woman complaining about their husbands and their sex life. Everytime this comes up my mother wants to tell them to get a new partner knowing that would fix most of the problems, i.e. sometimes it's psychological not physical.
