I object to that cannondale based on the lame hand of the fake computer font graffiti. Why don't they just pay a real artist a couple bucks?

I like cannondales, never owned one though. I would ride one of these.

How much do you think the frameset would be?

The Capo uses a Caad 5 frameset, which is from about 4 years ago. It's a better choice for fixies and commuters because the new CAADs, such as my Caad 8, has super thin tubing walls that dent easily. The Caad 5 is a ridiculously stiff frame but somewhat uncomfortable. The caad 8 and caad 9 versions are stiffer (torsionally) but more comfortable because they have thin, shaped seat stays that minimize vibration.

I have always been very impressed with the frames from C-dale. The caad 8 was the only other bike I considered vs. my orbea. How would describe the frame the for the capo. Is it infact the same as the one used on the road bike? Or does it have a compact or trackish or track geometry?

Similar geometry - traditional with longish TT length. The only difference with the CAPO frame is the ST angle is 1 deg steeper than the road version. Other than that and the track dropout, it is the same as a CAAD5 road bike from 4 or 5 years ago. CAAD5 road bikes are not produced any more - only CAAD8 and CAAD9 are.

It is specific to manufacturers and product lines. Cannondales are generally race bikes by design (unless you get a Synapse with the lax geometry.) That necessitates a low and stretched out position for being aero. The Madone from Trek is like this but that's why Trek also makes the Pilot. It serves different purposes.

The Capo would probably suck for street though. It's so much stiffer than steel it's not funny. It's a track bike.

really, the geometry dosen't seem so different than my orbea, and they both use carbon forks...

Weight of stock Cannondale CAPO 2009 model

Hi there,

I just purchased the last CAPO 2009 model available in the Netherlands! My choice was to go either for the CAPO or the Specialized Langster. Since I found out that the weight of the Langster was really disappointing (over 10kg) I decided to go for the CAPO. According to some forum the weight of the CAPO should be 8,7 kg.

Well I bought the 56 cm CAPO (see picture) and I weighted it on my digital scale. I first weighted my own bodyweight and then I weighted myself with my hands holding the CAPO in front of me and the 2nd time a top of me.

If the picture is not visible, right click on it and select open in new tab/window.

It turned out that the CAPO as pictured weighs a mere 7,3 kg! Yes, that's right! I then weighted myself with 7,5 kg of barbell weights and indeed, the CAPO was lighter than 7,5 kg.

Okay, I still have to build on the brakes and pedals (right now I only have old SPD M525 & they are heavy).
Okay, the job is finished. With brakes, bottle cage, bell and pedals with plastic add-on the bike weighs 8.3 kg. So you pay nearly 100 euro for every kg.....

The new 2010 CAPO for Europe has a straight bar and cantilever brakes and that's a real let down. Apparantly the USA CAPO still has a roadbar and roadbrakes.

My advice is, if you want an affordable fixie go for the Cannondale!
