Cannondale Capo

https://www.cannondale.com/bikes/07/c...odel-7PR1.html

I saw this over at TogaBikes. The silver one is ****e, but the Black is pretty hot because you can barely read the writing on it (unlike the photo above) the writing on the black appears to have a gaussian blur on it and maybe a 35% opacity. It's also written in a slightly darker grey so helps hide it even more. Also the one at the store had carbon forks and RPM cranks.

Anyone know whats up with this bike? With all the money I've been putting into my $40 Azuki, I could have purchased one of these. Seriously, it looks like a really nice bike.

Bikes: schwinn suburban conversion with chopped risers LOLZ!

Test road one at Helen's. It's pretty ho-hum. Solid, but a lot of entry level fixies are solid.

Isn't this think like 600 bucks? How did you put this much into your converted Azuki?

Rims, clipless pedals, stem, bars, cranks, tune-ups, tires, chainring, cog, chain and another tune-up or two. Ok, maybe considering all the extra gear I bought too, shoes, winter clothes, gloves, helmut(s), masks, booties, bag, etc.

Yea, that all adds...

Does Cannondale make an actual track bike anymore? I love those frames from the 90's, been wanting to get my hands on one.

Really? the cayne uno? One of the shops I go to says its a decent one too. Will it be good as a daily commuter?

sure. not as good as some bikes out there, but nothing on the bike is trash, and it comes with pedals and two brakes for 500. do a search.

A lot of people seem to be watching for used Cdale track frames. Many of those people want nothing to do with the Capo.

Seems strange to me since the Capo frame is at least as good a quality as the former.

No, the components aren't great. It's an entry level bike. You're paying a slight premium for the frame, which I think IS worth more money that the other, cheaper, aluminum bikes.

I bought a used Capo a while back and plan to keep it and eventually repaint and upgrade components - not before I've used up what it came with though. I will say that I"m surprised by the quality of the wheels. I've hit several large things in the road lately that resulted in double pinch-flats. The wheels took it fine.

it's actually the exact same frame as the latest cannondale "track" version. With the exception of the cable stops.
people however, still cream themselves over the 90's version of cannondales track frame

Should I post this in the ebay/craigstlist thread?

The Capo is nice, but At Toga, its $799. Kinda pricey. Any other shops to buy it from online?

Hm, maybe I need to give the Uno a nod. Recycle-a-bicycle builds them up for about $550. I can probably skip a lot of that cost with all the stuff I have on my current bike.

wow and you're right the old cannondale track frames are the same as the new ones. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Its is a good bike if you are going to upgrade the parts. The chainring is particularly lame, but it is worth buying and adding to later.

I've got the J&B book in my office. If the Uno is as bad as the 30 Sun Boardwalk Type Rs I have, I'm haten' bigguns.

if you go with the uno, change out the cane creek headset that it comes with... it's a total POS. i had to swap it out, as did the guy that sold me the bike (mine lasted 2 mos, his a couple of weeks)...

also, it was apparently an anomaly, but the rear hub was a total lemon on mine... i didn't care, as i got a free upgrade to better formulas (th20, i think, to th50) laced to deep Vs w/ a dura ace cog.

the capo is also available as a frameset through any dealer, and is priced fairly, in my opinion. i think the frameset includes an fsa headset, as well. i think i'm gonna get the older black model my c-dale rep has and make it my fancy, carbon-decked-out, long distance fixed ride. if i decide to, i'll post pics.

anyhow, as i said above, i think it's more a shoddy shop issue than a bike issue. it serves as a great commuter -- rides great, geometry is great for street & track use (probably wouldn't compete on it if i were serious, but it was fun ****ing around on the velodrome on it) and i think it looks pretty good with very few modifications...

the decals came off easily, too.

Not the same.
Look at the dropouts/seatstays on the 90's track, vs. the Capo

yeah, that's what I said.
It's the same frame as the 2004 "major taylor" track frame.
