I might get flamed to hell for pointing out the obvious(Bring it on, wouldn't be the first time this engineer has suggested something only to hear "Well that's a really good idea, but ... we'd really prefer to stick with our less efficent, less logical and more costly alternative."), or repeating it for the umpteenth time but: Why hasn't ODI or someone else come up with a set of lock-on compatible bar ends?

Quick question. Did any of you guys have to adjust your saddle height after switching? I switched to flats from drops this week, and now it feels like my saddle is too low, as if my ass-to BB distance changed significantly.

As soon as I find the sweet spot in saddle height, it never changes. There's a perfect spot where I get the most efficient pedal stroke / most comfort, so I don't like to fool with that...

Moki, hows that frame treating you? I've got a mountain bike with similar geometry and the seat super high up like that, but it handles like a boat so I only ride it in the city when my other bikes are in the shop.

dude, that's not my bike, but I wish it was. It's Joel Metz's (blackbirdsf.org), SF courier, bike geek, and punk brevetteur extrodinaire. Custom Sycip (hnnngh!). Looks like an XC bike, but has (according to his site) 700c wheels, steeper HT and ST angles, and shortish chainstays. Enough unlike a boat to ride 125000 miles in 8 years. Now that's an effin bike.

and the rider. If even half of what he writes is true, he is a God. With one helluva stable.

just for the record, i was totally kidding about the pipe cutter thing. i have used them tons of times, but i've managed to break/strip/dull a bunch of them, which sucks when you're halfway through the job. i just cut a set down with a saws-all, and it was like a hot knife through butter and clean as hell. i'm off of pipe cutters, at least for now.

i didn't read this whole thread, but maybe it hasn't been mentioned yet:

drop a nickel in your oury grips (maybe others too, if they fit) before sliding them onto your risers. this prevents the ragged hacksawed bar ends from cutting through the rubber ends of the grips:)

but that would cost 10 cents!

i have the worst hacksaw jobs on my bars with ourys and it aint a thing. no nickels necessary... just let them dry in place before you get going

haha it only takes about 10 seconds to deburr a rough cut with a flat file.

i noticed this when i went to risers. i don't really know what to do about it because my leg extension is correct but i can't help but feel like i'm sitting too low.

regardless of whether you have a clean cut or not, adding the nickels prevents the ends from eventually ripping the ourys. try it, you'll see:)

Yeah, you know?... I have gained a true love for risers after seeing them on a fews bikes in here.

Yet the flat bars are not too much to my liking.
