had them for about a month and loving it. i mostly commute through the city, so it's a great position to ride in. i can swap for drops at the park/track and bullhorns for long rides, but these stay on there the rest of the time.

drewcifer 04-12-07 09:51 AM

those of you with gold risers:
where'd you find those??

bonechilling 04-12-07 10:19 AM

Yeah, specifically which risers are on your bike, Skelly?

roughrider504 04-12-07 10:23 AM

:D

bonechilling 04-12-07 10:35 AM

If those are Simtra, how did you manage to get the logo off?

Jonny Pockets 04-12-07 10:38 AM

I used spit to get my grips on, and it doesn't seem to wanna dry...

kjohnnytarr 04-12-07 11:35 AM

Mine are flat, can we still be friends?

Anyone know some risers with a little more sweep?

I ordered the gold Answer Pro Taper's from like 3 places and waited 2 months and they said they could not get them instock. So I ended up getting these.

trimmedinred 04-12-07 12:30 PM

so i wana go with risers but i want to be able to cut em down and still have a good flatis grip any suggestions on what bars to get, the ones from pricepoint look pretty good but wanted to see if anyone cut those down?

schwinn 04-12-07 04:01 PM

go to your lbs and see what they have. check the used bins.

killsurfcity 04-12-07 04:07 PM

Bench vice + saws-all + metal blade = risers at whatever size you like

nightfly 04-12-07 04:16 PM

Pipe cutter. Much easier. Your stem is the bench vice. Your bike is the bench.

Jonny Pockets 04-12-07 04:19 PM

i used hack saw, with the bars in the stem. There are also tiny little metal flakes all over my bedroom, and I am too lazy to clean them up.

Threw these on a couple of weeks ago. Nice..

bonechilling 04-12-07 05:26 PM

You have a front wheel that exceeds the value of your entire bike.

john_and_off 04-12-07 06:23 PM

aren't the spin trispokes actually relatively inexpensive compared to other composite wheels? (and pretty damn heavy)

Just an old Spin wheel my lbs had lying around. Got it for cheap.

john_and_off 04-12-07 06:55 PM

there you have it

Uh, I cut down a pair of bars this afternoon with a six-dollar Harbor Freight pipe cutter. It worked perfectly.

deathhare 04-12-07 10:15 PM

x100...ive used pipe cutters to cut probably 10 or more sets of bars in my life. No problems. Aluminum or 4130

doofo 04-12-07 10:16 PM

six dollars does not mean easier

i could cut through bars in a minute with a sawzsall

BuddyMike 04-12-07 10:17 PM

I cut my flats with a pipe cutter. Took a total of 5 minutes. Also cut a 2mm off of my fork with it too[that took longer]. Pipe cutters work wonders. If you use a hacksaw, get one of those special tools that limit the direction the saw can go, so you can get a nice straight line.

deathhare 04-12-07 10:18 PM

I could set hand grenade on my bars and be even faster. Or i could used a cutting torch. Or use a plasma cutter. Or a laser!
Theres always a better way. Cheaper?..not many. Sawzalls cost a lot more than 5 dollar tube cutters.
