Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? mine are cut down but i still have a good 3 inches more on each side than i see most risers cut to. keeping them a little wide makes them feel way more fun.

Mainly cause wide bars look goofy and feel funny IMO. I came from BMX and narrow bars have been what i liked for a long long time. I also think of the traffic thing when i go between cars. I think here in Japan its way tighter. Lanes are much narrower here.

I cut my risers to shoulder length. Why would you have a bunch of extra hanging off the end?

I used to have risers on my IRO commuter, but I felt that they weren't the best to commute on.
So, now a year later I got my hands on gold answer pro tapers and slapped em on my "rain/beater" bike and made it a cruising machine.
