frame sizing for the taller gentleman.

so i've been looking into getting a mark v frame and fork. everything i have heard about them sounds great, etc etc.

here's where i have some doubts. i asked a few people if the 62cm would be large enough with varying answers (for some context, i'm 6'5", with an inseam of about 35" and i've been riding a 64cm raleigh grand prix.). i emailed tony and he wrote back telling me that it would probably be a bit too small, and suggested i look at the jamie roy in a 62 as it's the largest bike they sell.

now, i had kind of set my heart on a steel frame because i find that aluminum frames (which the angus is) bounce me around a bit too much (especially in a town like boston). but i might be swayed otherwise if i hit a dead end on this.

are there any people out there with experience on either frames? this would be my work bike so i'd like it to be a good fit. are there any other frames out there that are just as a decent trade off between price and quality like iro?

thanks.

I hope your peers have ostracized you for your freakish proportions.

Jk 62 should be fine, but just to be on the safe side goto local lbs and get a bike fitting. Shouldn't be more than $20. And it's information you can use again and again.

For what its worth i am 6'4.5" with a 34.5 inseam. I went to get fitted for my a custom frame the other day and the fitter (who is quite knowledgeable) put me on a 60cm seattube. 62cm should be plenty big enough.

yeah, the only bummer is that no one in boston or cambridge (i don't think) has a built up 62cm i can take for a spin. so it's all kind of guess work and speculation.

I've got a 60cm columbus mini-max frame (ex NZ olympic team), and a 62/63 MAX frame.

Can't compare them to IRO.

IRO measures frames c-t. The EAI Bareknuckle comes in a 62 cm c-c size, which would be equivalent to a ~64-65 cm frame if measured c-t. Thats significantly larger than an IRO frame.
