Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I don't think these rims look that great either - I personally would not have them on my bike, let alone buy them. But I do like the fact that some new visual approaches are explored, as opposed to the usual logo-fest which is prevalent in cycling gear.

And yes skateboarding does stir one's creative nerve. An average skateboard kid will be exposed to hundreds of board graphics, interesting photographs in magazines, experimental videos, etc.. in the course of a year.
Most skateboarders I know have gone on to work in creative fields.
like him

Sorry for turning this into one more skateboarding thread.
It's all keith Hufnagel's fault!

You don't think it's stretching one's head muscle scopin' new unridden lines on ones stick that loosens the right brains grip on the grey matter, thus causing a propensity towards creativity? Same as surfing and other "soul" sports?

Oh yeah I forgot - of course the ability to read urban landcapes through a filter and to invent new uses for them is the best part of skateboarding.
he does it rather well

Next thing you know kids will be putting stickers on their skateboards.

Good on Huf and Benny Gold for keeping the Quake theme going.
