I had a problem with the left track fork end, it was bent and the axle wouldn't go in, I bent it a little and shaved it with a file, needs now some matte black touch up paint.
Did anybody try to put a large tire on those babies? what is the largest size that will fit with brakes?

I hope the pic shows up. New tires (white walls) and I will be happy. The bikes rides wonderfully -- super solid and fun.

Here's the stats:
Campy Gold BMX Cranks
46t Campy Chainring
Thomson Seatpost
Campy Record Headset
Cinelli 2a Stem
Cinelli Crit bars
Formula Rear Fixed/Free/Mavic CXP22 Rim
DA 15t cog
Mavic Cosmos Radial Front
Brooks Team Pro Saddle

I am looking for good white wall tires. Not a fan of the yellows tires I have on the build now.
And looking back on the parts I stockpiled -- I do miss getting things at cost where I used to work.

There you go :). You have to use [img] tags instead of [url].

Many thanks.

i liked them too... its the gold cranks that i am not into. But i seem to be the only peron who doesn't like the gold stuff.

wow, hot!

Now that the long wait for the frame is finally over, I face new conundrums. Still havent gotten all the parts together yet.

Items already acquired: Cane Creek S-6 headset; Sugino RD2 cranket, shimano 105
brake; cheapo E-brake left over from Pista purchase; nashabr mushtache bar; stock
pedal/cages left over from Pista

Items needed to purchase: saddle, seatpost; bottom bracket, wheelset, lockring,
cog

Service needed: face/chase headset/BB; install headset/BB; cut steerer tube.

The conundrum is what to get/do first. Can't afford to do all at once. The plan is to get a set of mavic 33 w/ formulas, but that is probably the last item (and the most expensive). Plan to purchase brooks saddle. Probably the first thing to do is take the frame to a lbs and have the frame prepped.

This is turning out to be more expensive than anticipated and I can't decide what to blow my money on first ARRGGHHHHHHH!

Anyone got a good recommendation for a quality budget seatpost?---I'm not dropping $80 on a thompson. I see nashbar has deals on Ritchey and Oval seatposts, but I see those have gotten bad press for being hard to adjust and failing after a few months.

my idea too..... :(

white/silver arione, silver anodised/polished everything, white bartape, blue frame, haven't decided what I'll do with the carbon fork.

Anybody have issues with the front caliper install on the fork? When I throw my Shimano 105 caliper on the fork the brake pads are tucked between the fork legs. I don't think i've seen this before...

yup, same thing with my ultegra caliper. i've got an axle spacer on there for now, but that's pretty janky. not exactly sure what i'm gonna do long term.

If i keep this fork I may find a spacer and get a longer recessed caliper nut like this one at harris cyclery (11$ !?). I really hope my 700x28s can get in and out w/o removing the caliper from the fork...

queerpunk 07-12-07 08:43 AM

jodypolk - i usually don't care to comment on build aesthetics, but, damn. that's a lovely looking build. classy and reserved, doesn't go overboard. are those major taylor bars? get that bike in the sun where it belongs!

yeah, a proper spacer or even correctly sized washers would do the trick fine. your lbs should hopefully have a recessed brake bolt for less than that.

I had the same problem. I looked around the hardware store for a spacer or thick washer, but didn't find the right size. LBS had just the right thing for like $.50.

You can always deflate the tire first before removing the wheel. WHat kind of 28mm tire are you using? do you know any with a red color?

Thanks.:) It's light and so far it seems fairly stiff, but I haven't really had a chance to get real hard on it yet. I'm waiting on my brake levers to come in.

yep, i've got a tiagra brake and it does that. I had to take the spacer *off* before it would fit on the iro fork though, because the bolt is too short. once the brake is under tension though, it doesn't seem to cause any problems.

binderbolt 07-12-07 09:22 PM

Straight component swap from my IRO Mark V. All IRO parts except for parts bin bar, brake, and saddle.
